lost mucus plug

i am about 98 % positive i lost my mucus plug last night...im going to call my doctor in a few minutes to see if they will see me...but is it really necessary that I go to the doctor? I had my last sono yesterday to chk baby's weight and am suppossed to go for a pelvic exam next friday...

Think i should just wait til next Friday? baby's moving around alot and not feeling any strong or regular contractions yet...

TIA

Re: lost mucus plug

I doubt the doc will have you go in. usually it's just a sign the baby is on its way so wait for contractions/water breaking etc. . but they might want to know as a heads up. .

though you might not make it until next friday!!

Re: lost mucus plug

no need to see the doc, but you could call and see what they say anyway. He may have you come in to get checked. I started losing mine the day before my scheduled appt. I mentioned it to him and he said that it was a good sign that labor was near. He then examined me and I was 1 cm and 50% effaced. He said that I would definitely be having the baby in the next 2-3 days and he was right! He had me come back to get checked 2 days later and I was 80% effaced and I went in to labor that night!

Sounds like your baby is coming very soon!!

Re: lost mucus plug

that's REALLY exciting!!! I've been checking and waiting to lose mine. Ah, I'm just SO anxious to know that labor is on it's way. Congrats. Enjoy these last days of pregnancy. I don't think it's necessary to see the doctor, but you could always call to see what s/he says.

Re: lost mucus plug

I lost my mucus plug on Sunday and have been having random contractions here and there. I have an apt tomorrow where I'll be having an internal so I'll find out then if I'm dilated or effaced anymore.

I did mention it to the dr. Sunday night and he told me to just keep my apt and they'll check me out then.

Re: lost mucus plug

Was it bloody or just greenish/yellowish gooey?

As long as your water doesn't break without you contracting, they won't rush anything. If it was bloody, they might as you to follow-up, but no blood (or old blood) it can actually still regenerate. If you were also contracting, it would probably mean baby is on the way! But either way, you sound close!

Re: lost mucus plug

I delivered a few days after I lost my mucus plug, but it can go very quickly! I think it was a Friday, I thought I was in labor Sat, and went back Sunday night when my water broke and I was having full contractions!
