Is warm yoga safe?

I purchased 10 Hot Yoga sessions months ago on Groupon that are due to expire in May. My plan was to begin in January after the holidays. Well I got my BFP X-Mas Eve and have yet to use them.

They offer "Warm" yoga instead of hot which is what I would do.

Does anyone know if it is safe while pregnant?

I don't know what warm yoga is, but I would say a definite no to hot yoga. Maybe you can call theplace and ask if they offer prenatal yoga and would be willing to honor the groupon?

i did hot yoga all the time before but definitely not during pregnancy. i never heard of warm yoga. what do they say the difference is? you should find out how hot the room is and then ask your dr. otherwise, tell them you are pregnant and see if they will put it on hold.

You should really only be doing prenatal yoga while pg. They do many poses in regular yoga classes that are discouraged during pregnancy and can be unsafe for baby.

Re: Is warm yoga safe?

Thanks Ladies.

Warm yoga is more like the beginners Hot yoga. The room is not so "hot".

They do offer prenatal yoga so I am going to see if they can either let me take that instead or see if I can get an extension on the expiration date.

Thanks again!Chat Icon

I get nauseous during parts of my regular yoga class, so I would avoid it.

Re: Is warm yoga safe?

basically the two things you have to be concerned about are

- knowing which poses to avoid
- body temperature

I would DEF not do hot yoga, warm yoga would depend but chances are you would need to leave the room periodically through class to cool your core temperature down.

Overall, I would say if you are not a constant yogi and know what modifications to make that you should probably push for the prenatal. .

I would say no but regular yoga is fine...

I'm almost 20 weeks and still doing yoga (my instructor just modifies for me) and then eventually I'll switch to pre-natal yoga when I get closer to my due date if I need to.
