I don't know how I feel about this.
She's 74 years old now and she's going to sit there in prison...
This was 50 years ago... she was probably a completely different person.
My grandma is 74 years old. I can't imagine a little old lady her age going to prison.
Things were different in those days for women. They frequently suffered depression while being trapped at home with all their kids - expected to take care of so many things at once.
I'm not in any way, shape or form justifying what happened -- but she probably WAS in need of therapy and ... no one went to therapy back then.
I just don't really see the point of making a little old lady suffer out her last years in the world for something she has probably been haunted by for so long already.

i look more at the children's lives she ruined... all the children's lives.
i think you should pay for a crime, no matter how old you are. you did it you deserve to be punished for it. just because a lot of time has elapsed doesn't mean justice was served or the murdered babies will come back or the abused now adults don't recall how their own mother treated them. not to mention the cycle of abuse that usually occurs in these types of situations.
had she been punished that long ago, she might even still be sitting in jail. murdering 2 babies and abusing her other kids must yield a good amount of time in jail, if not life.
