Traveling to Aruba with 22 month old

OK, I know I need a passport for him...........working on that.

Regarding transportation...I'm sure we'll take a cab from the airport to the hotel....do I have to bring a car seat with me? How does that work?

Re: Traveling to Aruba with 22 month old

FUnny you ask this. I was doing this last week. We're going to Aruba in 3 weeks.
Yes, passport is needed. We got one for DS last year when he was 9 months old. This year he'll be 21 months old. Last year we brought his carseat.
Not bringing the Britax.
My parents have one in their car and taking us to the airport. A poster on here recommended a taxi they use in Aruba that has a carseat so I got in touch with him to pick us up. We'll use him to go home as well
Once we're at the timeshare we don't plan on taking taxi's out since everything is within walking distance.
If we do go out my IL's are also going to be with us so they'll watch DS and DH and I plan on going out to dinner further when we don't have DS.
OTher than that just the umbrella stroller, clothes, sheets, pool/beach toys and other stuff, swimmies, sandals, etc.

last year we took his Chicco key fit 30. He was almost 9 months and it worked out. Also used the bjorn and had an umbrella stroller
make sure you get a taxi with seatbelts b/c we didn't have one on the way to the timeshare so I had DS with me in the bjorn

Would you mind FM'ing me the taxi info? We will do the same thing. I don't want to bring the Britax either. We are definitely not leaving the timeshare either, planning on relaxing at the beach and pool most of the week. My mom and my brother and his girlfriend will also be there so like you said, if we want to do a fancy dinner one night, they can watch DS.

Another question, where does DS sleep?

Re: Traveling to Aruba with 22 month old

I was looking into Aruba with our toddler.

I was told you don't need a car seat for the shuttle. We planned to stay within the resort and walking only.

We would only have taken shuttle service to/from airport.

We have the Baby Bjorn travel crib and were planning on bringing that with us since it is much more portable and compact than a Pack N Play.

Re: Traveling to Aruba with 22 month old

I have gone every year and my 3 yr old has gone three times and my 2 yr old has gone 2 times...I have never brought a car seat! Because we are the same way...sitting on the beach all day and walk to restaurants at night!

We have been using the same taxi guy for the last 7-8 yrs and he is GREAT!!! (I will FM you the info) He recently bought 2 car seats and we used them to and from the airport!
the last year or so - before that my DD sat on our lap from the airport - I guess they have gotten more strict with the rules!

I do bring a jogging stroller (and an umbrella stroller for my oldest when we walk to the restaurants)

The jogging is THE GREATEST for the beach. ..it glides on the sand with ease..and my DS (who was almost 2 at the time) slept 2-3-4 hrs! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon in the stroller under the tiki hut with a towl draped over to block out any noise or sun) I was not hanging out in a hotel room when I can relax on the beach! It was great! and it worked out perfect!

The Marriott where we stayed had really nice cribs (white metal ones) that they changed the sheets whenever we needed/asked! They were great and my DS slept like a champ in it every night!

You probably can get a crib at your resort - I usually do this and just bring my own sheet.
