sitting in a shopping cart?

how old was your DC when they were able to sit in a shopping cart? DD is 5 mos and can sit up with the boppy but can't sit by herself. do you think if i use the floppy shopping cart cover thingy thats really fluffy and padded and blankets she would be ok for a short trip to the grocery store?

ETA: i hate lifting her in the infant carrier since shes soo big. she's 20lbs and then the carrier is like another 15, so i'm afraid i'll throw my back out.

i don't see why not! just bring a baby bjorn with you just in case!

The first time was when dd was 6.5mnths. She coud sit on her own then but still sort of got swallowed up by the seat. I used some paper towels to help prop her.

When DS #1 was that age he was able to sit up and I had him in the cart all the time. DS#2 wasn't sitting steady until 8 months so we waited untl then. Before then I shopped with him in the Bjorn- so easy!

Yup. I did that. I just smushed the floppy and he hung out in there. He loved it.

My girls were both 5 months but they were really steady sitters when we started. They needed no extra support.

My daughter is 5 1/2 months old and I was just thinking of trying the shopping cart thing. She is almost sitting up on her own- still working on her balance but almost there. I will use the fabric shoppign cart seat cover.
