Cloth Diaper Excitement

We just got our cloth diapers in the mail! They are so SOFT yet incredibly durable feeling. We are so giddy about this that it's a little sad Chat Icon. Can't wait to try them out on her when she is here and keep you all posted on our cloth diapering experience!

Are you doing a service or washing them yourself? We entertained the idea but we aren't sure this is for us. P.S. If we had our own washer, it might be a different story.

We are washing them ourselves. We have a washer/dryer and we don't pay for water (hot or cold) in our duplex, so it made sense for us!

Also, just in case anyone is interested: we've done a ton of research on cloth diapers, but I think this is one of the most insightful and realistic posts we've read on cloth diapering:

After reading tons and tons of reviews, we decided to go with BumGenius Elementals All-in-Ones for a quite a few reasons, including the following:

-They have snaps on them instead of velcro (so they don't ware off in the wash)
-They adjust from 8lbs - 35lbs...so even though they are a little more expensive (app. $5 more than the average cloth diaper), they last pretty much throughout diapering your LO
-VERY high reviews. The ones that didn't give them high reviews tend to not follow washing instructions as well.
-No messy inserts
-I've heard a lot of people say they are incredibly soft, and I love that Chat Icon.

We have just decided to go the cloth diapering route too! It took a little convincing for DH, but the ultimate motivator was a website that I found that estimated the cost difference between cloth and disposable.

We're going to do cloth diapering too! I'm going to order the chinese pre-folds and diaper covers to start with just to make sure I like it before investing so much in all in ones. Tell me how you like the Bum Genius ones!
