Re: Cruise

I've never been on a cruise with kids before, but from what I've heard and seen Norwegian Cruise Lines has an excellent program for kids.

Re: Cruise

Definitely Norweigan. We brought my 7 year old step-daughter last year on a Norweigan cruise and she's been begging to go on another cruise ever since. She actually told us she'd rather go on another cruise than go to Disney! Royal Caribbean also has a great program for kids.
The only ones I would say to maybe avoid would be Carnival and Holland America. I've heard Carnival tends to appeal to more of a "party" crowd. My parents cruised Holland America a few times and said there really aren't any programs for kids.

Re: Cruise

Carnival and Norwegian (excluding Disney) may be the 2 best options for you, if your main focus is on a program for your child.

The youth clubs for both of these cruise lines begin at age 2, while Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, etc have a minimum age of 3.

You really don't have to worry too much about Carnival being a "party" line, as they have made great strides in recent years to promote themselves as a great family cruise option. They do have a very good youth program, one which my daughter has enjoyed since she was about 2.

Norwegian's reputation in the last decade has not been great, however they too have made great strides to improve thier image. They recently partnered with Nickelodeon, and also have a very good youth program.

The cruise line you choose really comes down to what kind of cruise experience you want to have, as each has its pros and cons.

Re: Cruise

Definitely Carnival; although I know Norwegian has a great kids' program as well. The only + on Norwegian though (which we didn't care for, but we didn't go w/ kids) was the option to eat whenever you wanted & you usually got to sit by yourself.
