I took the Hospital Tour last night.
It was a brief tour at LIJ. It took all of 30 minutes. They showed us one of birthing rooms. I started to get weepy and tried to hold back tears.
There weren't many babies in the nursery because they were all with their mothers. They also showed us one of the private rooms. It's so funny because the last patient that was in that room was taken care of by my OB. You will not get me to spend an extra $575 a night for that! 
I wish I could have waited until the new maternity ward is open but it's ok. Next baby, right?

Glad you had a good experience! Maybe you can give your baby a pep talk to wait until the new maternity ward is done? I doubt you'd want that though  .

I can't barely carry around this meatball now! I can't imagine carrying around a 5 month old, plus crossing my legs is getting more and more complicated.

I remember the hospital tour too and there were some girls getting ****** about the price of the private room. I just thought... whatever, it's only a couple of days. Not about to spend $575.
They were JUST starting construction on the new ward.
I was lucky to have only 1 roommate. The rooms with 4 were all filled.
The nurses are great and you're out b4 you know it 
This time around I'll be delivering in NJ since we moved

This is good to know. I don't really care about having a roommate since I get bored easily. I just don't like that my husband has to leave me at night.
The tour guide was saying that you are so quickly in and out that you probably won't care. I just hope I don't have one of those people that is a slob in our room.

No, husbands aren't. The visiting hours for them are 8am- 10:30 pm.

No, not if you have a roommate. At first I was so sad about it, but then was ok with it at the hospital
Forget it... 1st night I was so out of it b/c I had a crash and was still doped up I had no problem with him going b/c he stayed late and the drugs help me pass out. The baby went in the nursery
2nd night DH stayed till late again then he took the baby to the nursery. I had a moment to call friends and go on the computer then pass out.
3rd night I was so ready to go home so I called DH at 5AM to come and bring me breakfast 
HE took care of the dog when he was home anyway and he'd come back with food for me or stuff from the house that I needed. Literally left around 11:30PM and came over b4 8AM everyday
It goes fast and you'll be happier in your own bed

I was told it should be done in June, but I am not holding my breath since anything having to do with construction usually gets pushed back.
If it could be done by July 14th I would be really really really happy haha
DH was plannin gon staying over too so he's going to be disappointed when I tell him he can't

LIJ - as in Long Island Jewish medical Center. The plain and original one To make it more confusing, the one that's located in Queens (but at the border of Queens and Nassau.)
The Manhasset one is usually referred to as NSUH and Huntington is just Huntington.

Oh my gosh, I totally wish is was 2012! The "private" rooms share bathrooms with other private rooms and you have to share the showers with everyone! I was like YUCK!
