First time homebuyers tax credit?
We had just made the deadline by the skin of our teeth back in June.
Today we had a letter from the IRS requestion another copy of the HUD, copy of recent bank statement, drivers lic, registration and mortgage statement, all with our address on it to prove that we own and reside in the house.
I know they are being overly cautious due to fraud etc but I was just wondering did anyone else have this experience? I am worried we are in danger of not recieving the credit that we are entitled to. We went to a professional CPA I figured everything would be pretty straightforward...

Re: First time homebuyers tax credit?
we have been waiting about 6 months. It is crazy! I called last week and they said they did receive it and it was finally in the computer but now they are investigating it more to make sure it is all correct since they had so many fraud cases and paid out people who did not qualify. I was livid.

My mother's been waiting over a year. They keep sending documents asking for more, then they lose what she sent (certified mail) and request it again.
