Started my registry yesterday...have some questions
Did anyone else have a hard time choosing things? We spent about 2 hours in BRU and barely got anything accomplished. And I put some things on it just b/c the sales person said to. I am having such a hard time figuring out what I need and what is excessive.
How many strollers does one baby really need? The saleperson 'recommended' getting the travel system with the big stroller, and infant car seat, then the stroller base for the infant car seat and then an umbrella stroller. I feel silly having 3 strollers on the registry. I'd rather register for the infant car seat with snap and go frame and the city mini, but DH seems to think we'll need the bigger stroller too.
And I have no idea what to pick for the activity category. Any recommendations for out of the swing/bouncer/walker/stationary entertainers? I don't think I need one of each, but how do you decide which to get?
I still have a million other questions but these are causing me the most confusion.

Re: Started my registry yesterday...have some questions
Don't feel bad. For my 1st we were at BBB for 4 HRS! And we didn't even finish! I felt so overwhelmed by all the choices and all of the things we needed that I almost started crying in the store.
I did TONS of research online and read Baby Bargains cover to cover. Bottom line is register for what you think you will need and what you can use. Not all products are right for all people. There's still some things, almost 2 years later, that I wish I had registered for something different, but thought they were good at the time. I HATE DS's stroller, but we still use it cuz I didn't want to spend money on a new one.

Re: Started my registry yesterday...have some questions
The first day we went to register both our heads were spinning, so we registered for things we thought we wanted or were "cute"
It took me weeks to perfect the registry and I got a lot of information from this site and the Baby Bargains book. Once I was all done, I had a few of my BTDT mom friends take a look and tell me if I was missing something, if they liked a particular swing/car seat/breast pump, etc. better
As for the stroller, I registered for the infant car seat and snap n go and a city mini. For me, those two seem like they will work the best for us.

Re: Started my registry yesterday...have some questions
thanks! I have the baby bargains book but its the kindle edition so I think that just added to my confusion when I would try to flip through it for reference.
Hopefully round two wont be as bad. I'll definitely be asking my BTDT friends to look it over once I'm done.

Re: Started my registry yesterday...have some questions
Everybody's needs are different, but I will tell you what I put to great use...
Strollers: Graco Travel system, with newborn car seat... a little bulky - but comfy for baby and functional.
Snap and go, which the newborn car seat snaps right into....lightweight great for running errands.
As for activity items:
activity mat/gym, for tummy time used for 6 months
graco sweetpeace swing, also holds infant car seat (great for when you come in from stores and baby is still sleeping, has swing feature, vibration, music, heartbeat - can also attach your ipod - MOST USED ITEM!
Jumperoo

Re: Started my registry yesterday...have some questions
Registering is sooooo much harder than I ever realized.
I did most of it online -- and after talking to mommy friends who looked at my registry and gave suggestions.
IMO -- travel systems was VERY heavy and bulky.
We did a more lightweight stroller that fits with the infant carrier -- and will have a snap-n-go/snugrider for DH's car -- that way we don't have to worry about moving it from one car to the other when we go out.

Re: Started my registry yesterday...have some questions
i got the travel system, with the snap and go, and the city mini! and the bar that attaches to the city mini to put the infant car seat on...
does seem like a lot tho...
Me and DH spent 4 hours in BBB when we started our registry, got a lot done, but was totally overwhelmed, i brought back my sil who helped me finish it up (she has to small children) she i trusted her judgement on things we needed and things we didnt.

Re: Started my registry yesterday...have some questions
I registered for the City Mini. The 2011 version has an infant car seat accessory!! It's fantastic. One stroller - that is it! Although, I think my cousin is getting me the Maclaren because its her favorite.
As for activity, we registered for a bouncer, swing, walker and playmat. If we find its too much for our place we'll leave some stuff at Grandma's!
GOOD LUCK!
