Where to go on vaca this summer??
We are thinking an island but we are not sure where...
We have already been to Jamaica and would like to go somewhere different.
We would prefer all-inclusive but it isn't a deal-breaker.
We want to rule out Mexico b/c I just went there last year and as much as I loved it and would go back - the situation there has gotten so bad that I feel it's too dangerous for right now.
I'm thinking: Turks, Antigua, Bahamas, DR, etc.
Any suggestions?? What places have you been and really loved? DH is kind of a food snob - to me, the perfect place was Excellence Playa Mujeres but we don't want to do Mexico again so something LIKE that would be so perfect. It was new, pretty, and the food was great. The beach was fantastic - pools, etc.

We went to Sandals Grande Antigua for our HM and absolutely loved it! The beach is just gorgeous and the food was really good.

We went to Sandals Grande Antigua for our HM and absolutely loved it! The beach is just gorgeous and the food was really good.
It priced nicely but the flights were a killer -- stop overs and more $. Where did you fly when you went there and what airline?? Did you stop in PR or Miami??

And we are looking at the new Majestic Elegance for Adults Only in Punta Cana.
We also checked out a few others but we liked those - they priced right.
The food was a concern for a lot of people on Trip Advisor and it seems that out of all of them, Majestic Elegance for Adults rated the best "overall". Hmm. I wonder -- we'll keep checking it out.
We decided on Memorial Day weekend - make a long weekend out of it.
Have to choose the rest!

we went to Atlantis, Bahamas for our honeymoon. It is great. You can stay next door at comfort inn or rui (which is all inclusive) and get access to atlantis's waterslides and pools.

We flew American and stopped in Puerto Rico. I really don't like American, and we ended up having to spend an extra night in Antigua cuz our plane needed a part. But if that didn't happen, then it wouldn't have been that bad!

How about Anguilla or Barbados?
Anguilla has no all inclusive resorts but some of the best restaurants and beaches in the world.
Barbados also has a very lively and good restaurant scene. I think there may be a few all inclusives on the island

I love Punta Cana and the flight is ridiculously short which doesn't cut into your vacation much which I love !

DO NOT go to the Secrets resort in Cap Cana (Punta Cana). We had such a bad experience there. The resort is beautiful but the service was terrible. We've been to Paradisus Punta Cana and Paradisus Riveria Maya and both of them were wonderful.

We booked it!!
After a lot of looking around and budgeting like crazy we found the nicest place FOR the best price!! It was verrrrry reasonable. We are going in May and will be there for Memorial Day. We are sooooo excited!
We chose the Majestic Elegance Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic - There are two sides - family and adult only. We will be on the adult only side which only opened in late 2008! So, I'm really excited. Here's the site:

It's beautiful and it rated really well on Trip Advisor. The price was so right - we literally could not beat it!!!!
