what Breast pump are you getting?

I'm not sure if I'll go back to work after the baby...If anything I may just step down and work park time or full time hourly instead. I'm wondering if a double breast pump is necessary for a possible SAHM.

I'm planning on staying home, but I registered for the Freestyle. I'm planning on pumping so that I have a decent supply so I can leave the baby etc. I have no idea how necessary it is and it totally may be complete overkill, but I figured I might as well be comfortable and easy if I'm going to pump.

Re: what Breast pump are you getting?

I used the PISA with DDs- and loved it. Used it for a year with each girl. When I got pg with #3,my lactation consultant recommended I get a new pump, plus I wanted to try the new pump from Medela.

I got a Freestyle when I had DS and I HIGHLY recommend it. It's SUPER portable, the handsfree feature is really hands free, and it is rechargeable. By far way better than my old PISA.

Re: what Breast pump are you getting?

Totally agree with the PPs. I got a Medala Swing b/c it was cheaper and I didn't think I'd use it often. (I'm home for the next year at least). Well, we had supply and latching issues and I needed to pump after every feeding for weeks. I was miserable with my one-sided pump. It wasn't very strong and was prone to problems. The lactation consultant basically called it a POS and said that I should write a letter to Medela. Spend the money and get the better product.

I am only 13 weeks along and was not aware that insurance companies may cover breast pumps? Can anyone share how that works?

You can call your insurance or call the company Edgepark 1-800-321-0591 and see if they cover it. If they do you can tell them which one you want and they will send it.

I have about 12w left and I just called today - I asked that question and they said it is up to the insurance company - they are sending out the info today but each ind insurance company may not allow it until you are closer or actually have the baby (at least that is what I was just told on the phone!)
