In all seriousness, how do I get him to stop picking his nose
He does is out of habit now. His finger is always up there.
I tell him 450 times a day to stop picking his nose. He doesn't reserve this for when we are at home. He'll do it when we are out, with family, wherever.
It's disgusting, AND embarrasing.
He's 3.5 if that makes a difference, and quite the defiant one
I told him this morning that I'm going to tie up his hands. Don't call CPS on me, but I really may do it

I think it's the weather, honestly! Poor Luca is always coming up to me saying "nose" and rubbing the outside because it's itchy. Tell him every time he does it that you're going to shoot saline up his nose

What about if he digs far enough up there he might poke his eye out! I really have no idea, mine are only 4 months.

DH suggested putting the humidifier on his room. Maybe I'll try that tonight.
I would like to say this is just a recent thing though, but it's been going on for ages now.

I wish I had a solution. Both my kids always have their fingers in their noses!

Re: In all seriousness, how do I get him to stop picking his nose
Vincent does it all-day-long .. AND when he is feeling shy, AKA meeting someone for the first time, the first thing he does is stick his finger up his nose Nice first impression buddy I just tell him to 'put your hand down' and he usually does and then goes right back into it a few minutes later. He lets me check up there and clean out anything I see. I do think it has a lot to do with the weather too (doing it more than usual at least!). I know my nose is sooo dry this time of year and I'd like to pick mine ALL day long too, LOL.

I do notice that Jack does it more when he is in a situation that makes him nervous.

That is DD too. So I told her princesses do not pick their noses so she can't be a princess. Now all I have to do is look at her and she smiles and says sorry.
What if you tell him that Woody and Buzz really do not like.

Re: In all seriousness, how do I get him to stop picking his nose
My son is on a mission now to get that gold out...as much as I talk to him and tell him to get a tissue, he continues to dig. Not only that, he licks his fingers afterwards too!!!! I can't get him to stop for nothing...he even looks at me when he does it so I stopped saying anything and just pray that it's a phase

Is it wrong that I don't discourage this as much as I should because I prefer it to the hand in his pants?
Ahhh, the joy of a little boy. I would like the tips on either.

I've had the humidifier going for a week and the finger is still in the nose. No changes. I opened this thread in the hopes that somebody had a suggestion I hadn't tried yet.

Thomas doesn't really pick his nose, but he does constantly have his hand down his pants!
