Nap - going on 3 hours and 45 minutes...

Logan (17mos) has had a cold since Saturday - Runny nose, cough, sneezing, no fever, no appetite. He's probably eaten 1 day worth of food over the last 3 days.

He was up in the middle of the night Sat and Sun for an hour or so each night, then slept til normal time the next morning.

He went to bed at 8:30 last night and was up at 8:30 this morning with no wakeups during the night. AND he woke up soooo much better today! He ate 5 spoons of oatmeal & applesauce and a handful of dry cereal, and drank 2 cups of milk. He has no runny nose, no cough, only 1 sneeze before he went back down for his nap at 10am.

Which brings me to my next issue - he's been asleep since 10am. It's just about 1:45 and he's still OUT!

He normally naps 10-12, then again from 3-5pm.

DH is texting me to wake him up but he just looks so peaceful Chat Icon - WWYD? I don't want to ruin his sleep for tonight, as it's back to work and daycare for us tomorrow.

Thanks!

Re: Nap - going on 3 hours and 45 minutes...

I wouldn't wake him up - he must need it...my son is a 2-3 hr nap ...but on occasion he takes a 4 hr nap..I always think I am going to wake him..but I never do..and it NEVER ruins his night sleep!

There was a post about this yesterday! Everyone said that it could be a growth spurt! If he is catching up on his ZZZs I say let him!

Enjoy!

I would leave him and just skip his afternoon nap, put him to bed normal time.

His body is definitely trying to catch up and get over the last of the germs. Chat Icon

Re: Nap - going on 3 hours and 45 minutes...

In my experience with DD, whether she takes a 45 min nap or a 4 hour nap she always goes to sleep when we put her to bed, at 7:30. I say let him sleep, he must need it.

Let him sleep, skip the afternoon nap, and put him to bed early. He'll readjust. My kids always catch up with naps when they are sick Chat Icon

I would not wake him up. I think he must have needed a good rest to sleep that long.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Nap - going on 3 hours and 45 minutes...

i opened his door, went in and checked him and he's still sound asleep. I'm leaving him Chat Icon. Wish I knew this would be such a long nap, I could've planned to get something major done, instead of little things!

I would let him sleep it out.
When he wakes up give him a late lunch and keep him up until bedtime.
