Re: children place return policies are ridiculous

A lot of stores run your license now so they can keep track of people who make frequent returns.
This sux because I return/exchange a lot!
It's not like I can try the clothes on my 20 month old DD in the store, so I bring it home and try it.

Even with the receipt?? Chat Icon Chat Icon That is ridiculous! I could understand this without the receipt, but with the receipt, it’s ridiculous! Very often, I buy 2 sizes of things if my daughter isn’t with me, and I return (with receipt in the allowed timeframe) the size I don’t need. This is crazy!

Re: children place return policies are ridiculous

This, along with their insane need to SCAN your driver's license has made me stop shopping there altogether.

I've never heard of that and I shop at CP a lot! They have never said anything about returns with a receipt. I know Target limits you to like 2-3 returns a year without a receipt, maybe that's the same thing now at CP. Although for the life of me I will never understand why they need to limit you, receipt or not. Chat Icon

This is from CP website. It sorta reads like you can't do more than 4 returns within a 60 day period as opposed to a year.

On 10/17/2010, Our Return Policy changed to 45 days.
Return and Exchange Policy

We will gladly accept unwashed, unworn merchandise, with original sales tag attached within 45 days.

All returns are subject to verification of original sale. We reserve the right to limit returns regardless of receipt.

Merchandise may only be returned in the country in which it was originally purchased.

No returns or exchanges on Halloween merchandise after Halloween.

Certain items may be subject to additional restrictions as noted on the tag, packing slip or posted online.

To make a return or exchange, you will be required to present a valid photo ID* (see below for the types of ID that we accept) that will be scanned at the time of the return. Information from your ID will be retained in a database of customer return activity that The Children's Place uses to authorize returns. We will accept your receipted return if it is your 4th or earlier return in the last 60 days and you have not been denied or warned on a return in the past 60 days. We will accept your return without a receipt if it is your 2nd or earlier return in the last 60 days and you have not been denied or warned on a return in the past 60 days.

Information stored in this database will not be used for marketing purposes.

Snipped out the important parts here so I can translate why this bothers me:

Please present photo ID which we will scan identifying information and then store all of this information (but what info is scanned and store we aren't going to/can't tell you) in a database which we hope won't get stolen and exploited ala TJ Maxx and Marshalls. Chat Icon

Target does this too....but only if you were doing a return/exchange WITHOUT a receipt. I had to go there and use my sisters license to do a return. what a pain.

Christine,
I use to work there and they combine all returns to Limited Inc...so if you shop at Limited, Limited Too, Or Justice, or sister stores those CAN be counted against you if they want to be JERKS about it. Ask for their District Managers Number and I am sure it will resolve any and ALL issues you have with them since their co is huge on customer service.

Ah ha! That must be it because DD#1 loves Justice and I am sure that I made exchanges and returns there. Thanks for the info. The girl was a nasty witch about it too and tried to embarrass me in front of a line of people when I said that I had not made any returns there.

Re: children place return policies are ridiculous

The whole thing is so ridiculous. If I have a receipt and the tags are still on the clothing or the items are still in the box there should be NO reason why I cannot return it. Honestly, who is going to shop at a place where you can't make returns...........they are hurting their own business. It's all such BS. Chat Icon
