Please end this argument.... "Footie Pajamas"

aka Blanket Sleepers..... worn alone as pajamas or worn over other pajamas as a blanket?
Now I must say that I myself always thought they were just footie pajamas and worn alone or with a onesie.... maybe I'm mistaken? My best friend swears they are meant to be worn over another set of cotton pajamas....That never even crossed my mind.
What do all of you do?

DS wears them almost every night....I put a long sleeve onesie under them if it is really cold. Last week it was really, really cold and I put him in a lightweight pair of pjs under them. It can get cold in his room...

Re: Please end this argument.... "Footie Pajamas"

Just a onsie and the pjs. I never would think to put anything else under them bc

1. THey arent supposed to be worn that loose.

2. They are fleece and she would get hot.

Same, it never even occured to me to put another layer on him.....he's a hotbox though so he rarely gets the fleece footies as it is.

Re: Please end this argument.... "Footie Pajamas"

We used to put footie pajamas on with just a diaper, no layers under or over.

I put a sleepsack over them, and if it's really cold, a onesie underneath. I usually skip the onesie though. One set over another seems like overkill though.

Feeties with just a diaper. I never use onesies, but all my kids were always sweaty babies.

DD is a hotbox so she sleeps in a onesie, cotton footie pjs and a cotton swaddleme. i let her sleep in the fleece pj's once and she woke up sweating.

I always used them alone - with no onesie. All my kids slept with blankets from day 1 (swaddled) and loose from around 3 months so I dont see the need to put anything under the pajamas.

Re: Please end this argument.... "Footie Pajamas"

Pajamas are pajamas, not blankets. I use these and a onesie, and when it's cold a sleep sack as a blanket.

Re: Please end this argument.... "Footie Pajamas"

I put them over dd's pj's but only because her room tends to get cold and since I don't give her a blanket I want to make sure she's warm enough. I know most people don't but I consider it her blanket, she really never liked the sleep sacks or I may have just stuck with those.
