Those that have stayed at Excellence resorts...
What did you wear during the day when you went to go eat? I have heard that you can't wear bathing suits to the restaurants, but can you wear a coverup? Or do you need to change completely? I was planning on bringing a sun dress for each night, but I'm not sure what to bring for the rest of the day.

We went to the one in Punta Cana.
The restaurants were very casual during lunch- I just threw on shorts overtop my bathing suit and a tank top.
They also grilled really yummy food on the beach so a few days we just ate there - in bathing suits.
I think they just don't want you only in a bikini top or something. An easy coverup or shorts/tank would be fine.
I think DH just wore his board shorts and a tee shirt - again, they just don't want guys in there with no shirts I think.
We showered and dressed up a little more for dinner but DH wore flip flops most of the time.
We had an amazing time, enjoy your trip.

Thanks! We are going to the punta cana one Jan 8th!  So now after the holidays are over I am finally doing my shopping!

We went to Punta Cana as well and I just put on a cotton cover up dress over my bathing suit or shorts and a tank.
You are going to love it there!!!!

That was one of my favorite all inclusive resorts ever!
A cover up or shorts is fine for the restaurants in the afternoon.

same as the above - i was at punta cana (amazing!! We loved it so much we extended our stay by a day).
I threw on a skirt/shorts and tee shirt for lunch and nice jeans/capris/skirt with a nice tank for dinner. DH wore nice jeans/khakis with a polo.

I went to old navy yesterday and picked up a cute tank and fold-over jersey skirt. I figured they would come in handy. I am soooo excited for Saturday!

What she said. We also went to Punta Cana. DH wore khaki's and polos at night. I usually wore a sundress since it was humid and it was more comfortable. I also sometime wore capris at night with a nice top.
During the day, it was casual. Sometimes they brought food to the pool side, so you never had to move!

I am so jealous! We were there 3 yrs ago this month and wish we were heading back for our anniversary.
Can't wait to see pictures and hear how you liked it.

Have a great time!!! Excellence Resorts are the best. We've been to the one in Punta Cana and Playa Mujeres.
As for daytime restaurant dressing, same as the others. I wore little dresses over my bathing suit and DH wore his bathing suit (sometimes wet!) with a t-shirt over it to the buffet restaurant.

You can definitely dress relaxed during the day. I went to breakfast and lunch everyday wearing a coverup over my bikini. DH just wore his bathingsuit with a t-shirt.You can even go in with flip flops. In the evenings most people get somewhat dressed up, but it doesn't have to be anything too fancy. A sundress should be fine. Enjoy! You will love it there!
