Re: Let's list our "Blizzard of 2010" gripes! We can make it a game

-dh having to miss 2 days of work, possibly 3 (he doesn't get paid for them)
-having to blow dry my dog for 20 minutes every time she goes out
-having 2 options: pay an extravagant amount of money to have someone plow my long driveway and shovel the walk, or do it ourselves and spend the vast majority of the day doing it. (we chose the former, so now every time the weather report calls for snow, all i see is $$$$$.)

My only gripe is that while Suffolk COunty (where I live) looks awesome, including ALL the side roads, Nassau County looks like there was a blizzard last night, the roads are so bad. Chat Icon

I had no gripes! LOL

I shoveled with Dh, made a cheese fondue for lunch then made chili for dinner, managed to get to Starbucks and then came back home! I got a day with him at home and we relaxed.

LOVED every minute of that blizzard. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Me too!
I got to spend extra time with my baby girl and DH got to make some extra cash through snow removal!

I guess my one gripe is that people insist on driving in this weather ( when it isnt necessary ) and THEY are the reason that snow removal was not up to par. A guy got stuck on my block for two hours, he was in a regular car - and he was trying to go get breakfast. . . really?! Chat Icon

People who get angry/confused/annoyed when they are in a supermarket the day of a blizzard and realize everyone else had the same idea. I ran down to S&S at 8am Sunday for Milk and bread.. some chick in front of me had a bunch of bananas, a box of cupcakes and club soda. She was hrmmphing and grmphhing on the (long) line. Muttering "I can't believe this! People are RIDICULOUS!" - and then she finally threw her items ON THE FLOOR and stormed out. It was comical.. and sad too.

Re: Let's list our "Blizzard of 2010" gripes! We can make it a game

My gripe is that my flight to Australia has just been cancelled. Normally I'd be ok with that, but when we flew over from Europe, Europe was in total chaos and two of our flights were cancelled there. There was so much difficulty to just get here that all of this is becoming too much! I have my BIL's wedding to go to.

I just want to scream now! And now our airline is telling us that there are no flights until January 4th. What the H are we going to do?????

I always loved this. I worked in a supermarket for six years and I always wanted to say -- you are here too! LOL

Cabin fever

People who drive suv's who think they are completely invincible to all bad weather- four wheel drive doesn't mean four wheel stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Caution signs that say "reduce speed, road icing" meanwhile people pass you doing 70!!!!

Tailgating!

No plowing of roads of partial plowing.

The supermarkets being so crowded that you think the end of the world is coming. Most storms keep you inside overnight to 2 days at most. Do you really need to stock up for 2 freaking days?!?!?!?

yup, this would be mine too

just because you were able to shovel yourself out, doesn't mean that you should go drive anywhere!

And should i mention the old favorite of people who don't clear off the tops of their cars before driving? Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'll go with the LIRR.

Or, lack of LIRR, to be more specific.

On the PW line, they didn't clear anything from one of the tracks. Nada. (Yet, they shoveled the platform along the track that's not clear, go figure.) And, they go to great lengths to say that they're running service -- and then they run one, short, train after two hours that filled up after four stops, stranding everyone else for another few hours.

Yeah they have had tons of rain this summer there I've heard. However, the flight was cancelled on the NYC-LAX leg b/c of the snow. I really thought they would have had it sorted out by now. Chat Icon

the stupid FB friend that insisted on updating his status every hour with "2010 blizzard updates" in which he HAD to mention what kind of cars he had (and i mean in every post) and how far along the tire, hood, roof, the snow was coming. he and his wife just got a new car and insist on the entire world knowing how amazing it is. My only complaint is that garbage pickup was cancelled and my cans are overflowing! Two kids receiving gifts from generous grandparents & Santa * each toy has 3x it's weight in packaging = way too much garbage!

oh and we just purchased a house and I have no idea the condition of it, since we can't get there since our truck is stuck Chat Icon

oh and I'd like to punch bloombucks in the face. stop blaming the abandoned cars for the unplowed roads. there are no cars stuck on our street, and we have yet to see a plow.

-optometrist appt cancelled which can only be rescheduled in February (so no benefit for 2010Chat Icon )....

otherwise, not much else to complain about. It was the perfect weekend to be snowed in.

Re: Let's list our "Blizzard of 2010" gripes! We can make it a game

My husband being gone working for 14+ hours a day and never being home....

having to do this every single day without days off....well into the new year.

hearing that we can't do anything for new years eve because he will be sitting in a plow as the clock strikes 12.

then having to listen to buffoons blaming the poor DSNY workers for not having their personal blocks plowed while my husband is working his asss off out there and i'm home alone.

other than that... i have no gripes!
