Nebulizer and Albuterol Sulfate side effects..
DD jsut started this yesterday (for RSV) and i noticed shes not sleeping ...could that be a side effect?? i gave it to her this morn at 8...just put her down for a nap at 930 and still up ( not like her)...Thanks

Sounds right. I have asthma and everytime i need my albuterol inhaler i'm bouncin around. Check with your doctor if you are really worried though.

Yes, I found that the first time I gave them Albuterol they were wired for a few times, but now it doesn't really affect them anymore.

Can you use the nebulizer when she is sleeping? I know the motor is loud, but surprisingly it doesnt wake DS up. If hes already asleep, it makes no difference.
I find with DS its hit or miss, sometimes it makes him wild, other times, only a little. Usually for an hour or so.

MY DS has been on albuterol for about a year...no side effects that i can see....
more than likely DD cannot sleep because she feels miserable and the coughing is waking her up...

DS is on albuterol now...
ive noticed
constantly moving his hands, moving his fingers, jittery, trouble falling asleep
my Ped told me that jittery is a side effect for MOST infants on albuterol

the prob isnt giving..it just that the poor kid needs to sleep too....and cant

ok, dont do it right before nap or night time. do it first thing in the am, and after naps.
DS is getting 3 treatments per day. first thing in the am, 1pm at daycare and as soon as we get home so he is wound up before bed. give a soothing, calming bath AFTER the last treatment

I get wired from Nyquil and sudafed makes me exhausted and extremely irritable, so I wasn't very surprised when DS has an a-typical reaction to some meds

Definitely normal. I remember insomnia and jitters from it as a young chilld and it still affects me that way as an adult so I try to not take it too close to bedtime.

Oh God yes... DS was close to swinging on the ceiling fans the other day he was sooo wired. (He's also getting several treatments a day - some back to back early in the week when he was at his worst.)
The doctor had to switch him back to Xopenex, which isn't covered as nicely by our insurance, but doesn't have the "swinging from the rafters" side effects, so it's worth the $75 co-pay.

A while back think it was zyrtec that I had energy with, but the dr tells me it couldmake you groggy.

Yep. I made Jasons Dr prescribe Xopenex instead. He was on Albuterol and Oraped and he was like a nut.
