Re: Spin-off: Those with good family health plans
DH - MTA Bus Company Me - I work for a Japanese conglomerate. No bonuses, pay could be better, but benefits are good. Increases to health coverage were announced, I lucked out that my bracket does not have an increase.

I work for the state. Great medical and retirement, and not so great salary.
DH works for state/county not-for-profit agency. Same deal, good benefits but not so great pay.
I do get a little money from my job by not using their health plan.

Re: Spin-off: Those with good family health plans
I work for a smaller financial services company on Long Island. It is family owned and the owner seemed pretty committed to making sure that his employees were taken care of.. meaning - in part - that he pays 100% of our medical coverage. It is deeply appreciated.

Re: Spin-off: Those with good family health plans
I work for a large law firm and have a pretty good health plan. My monthly payment is low and many things are covered. I don't have to pay anything for most of my prescriptions for example. I had to go to the ER last year and it only cost me $100. My co-pays are higher than most ($20-$35 usually) but I also get free gyno exams at least once a year and we don't have to deal with any annoying referral processes like I had to do on my old plan. DH broke his elbow last year and after all doctor's fees, cast, exams, therapy etc the whole shebang probably came out to be $300 out of pocket over the course of 3 months.

Re: Spin-off: Those with good family health plans
I work for a community service agency and surprisingly our medical benefits are really good, including fairly low monthly contributions and reasonable copays, large network etc.
DH works for his parents so while he pays no monthly contribution the actual plan isnt great
I guess when we have kids we'll have to decide which way to go with a family plan....

Re: Spin-off: Those with good family health plans
My DH works for the Village of Babylon. It is a state job. We both have great insurance plans, but we only opted for his cause it has amazing IF coverage. Again, when he took this job it was a big drop in salary but it's secure and has a pension, plus he really enjoys his work.

Re: Spin-off: Those with good family health plans
NYC Parks & Recreation here.. DH and I both are covered (we get a nice choice of programs that we can choose- if we don't like it we can switch during a transfer period) and we don't pay a thing out of pocket.
There are a few that we have a choice of though (currently I've been sticking with HIP for the longest time now) that are a small feel but nothing outrageous.
