Crashing from Pregnancy- ARE THESE CONTRACTIONS??
I know everyone says you will know when you get them....but I worry I wont know .
Last night I was woken up to what I thought was contractions. It was tightening of the lower pelvic area and would kinda tighten up my stomach to right underneath my chest..( where I felt like it was almost tightening my chest). However, the pain never went into my back...like most women have said with contractions.
Also, they went away after about an Hour!! I noticed it once this morning though.
Could this be the start of contractions? IS this just false labor? Or just Braxton Hicks?
I have 10 days left and just getting anxious for progress. Plus my Dr does not do internal...so I have no clue on my progress ( if any).
Thank you for helping!!!
WHAT WILL CONTRACTIONS FEEL LIKE??

I did not have them going to my back. I think what you have is it, except they won't go away...they will keep coming closer and closer together when you are in labor.

I agree with the above poster, my contractions hurt like a pain you never felt before (can't catch your breath during some of the painful ones).
Though I never had BH or any false labor, so I'm not sure how those feel.
Good luck, regardless!

It wasnt terrible pain. It was extreme tightening that would radiate up and feel like it was taken my breath away. But not really Pain.
I know contractions dont go away...guess I am hoping that this could be the start of something and in the next day or so lead to consistent contractions. Or maybe just wishful thinking on my part.

It could be BH. Like others said, contractions are VERY painful. They will stop you in your tracks. Good luck and hopefully its the start!!

Could be the start of something...if it's the real thing they should start happening more frequently.
Just trust your instincts. Personally, my contractions didn't hurt that much they were just uncomfortable so I had no idea I was in labor (granted I went pretty early). I was 7 cm when I got to the hospital.
Good luck!

That is what my contractions felt like in the beginning. As labor progressed it started to HURT.
Good Luck!

The way you know is that contractions do not get easier if you get up and walk around, or lay down, or change position, or take a drink of water
The other way is that you should not be able to speak and hold a conversation with real contractions.

sounds like it. I never felt mine close together, even though I was having them 3 minutes apart. They only felt bad after my water was broke. Good Luck to you! I remember this has been a long awaited dream come true!

Re: Crashing from Pregnancy- ARE THESE CONTRACTIONS??
I had the same thing on and off for about 2 weeks before I went into labor. Once I went into labor - I knew! The contractions felt like menstrual cramps and were more painful.
I kept wondering if I was going to "know" when I was in labor and everyone told me I would and sure enough, I did!

Re: Crashing from Pregnancy- ARE THESE CONTRACTIONS??
My contractions felt like menstrual cramps...they were not painful until after they broke my water at the hospital. I guess it is different for everyone...but if you get them like every 3-4 minutes for an hour then call your doctor. I know I was having them for like a day or two before I went into labor the way you described-I would get a few and then they would go away. You are so close to the end that it seems like something is going on.

Re: Crashing from Pregnancy- ARE THESE CONTRACTIONS??
I think it may be the beginning of contractions. For me braxton hicks felt like a comb of having to pee with a cramp in the lower pelvis. Your radiating sound like real contractions to me. The fact that they stopped is reassuring, but I would still call your Dr. You don;t have any leaking or anything do you?

I hope so!! Hopefully they will come back and more frequently. No leaking at all.

Re: Crashing from Pregnancy- ARE THESE CONTRACTIONS??
Contractions feel like a nuclear bomb slowly going off in your uterus.
I have never in my life felt that kind of pain. Not like a broken arm (which I've had), more than a cramp. It is excruciating while it is going on and then leaves you like it never came. As they get stronger they will literally take your breath away and wear you down.
I've had IBS, Cramps, Cervical Biopsy, I've broken arms, cut open my head, been literally trampled by a mob of people, tore my menicus in my knee as a result of that trample.
This pain is VERY unique. Not enough to make me cry but enough to make want to scream in pain and definately enough for me to want to seriously CUT my child out of my belly myself to make it STOP!
And enough that I am still a mother of only one
And THAT is my honest answer

Sounds like BH. You will know when they are "real". The pain you will feel will make you stop everything you are doing until the contraction is over. Your uterus is getting ready for the big moment =) Good Luck!

Re: Crashing from Pregnancy- ARE THESE CONTRACTIONS??
It could be the real thing. When I was in labor, I was having intense contractions and really didn't feel much pain. The nurses kept coming in my room when they would see how strong they were on the monitor and ask if I was OK. They said I must have a high threshold for pain. Some of them were off the monitor! I had bad back labor much later into it all..That was PAIN!!!!

Re: Crashing from Pregnancy- ARE THESE CONTRACTIONS??
I didn't have back labor. Labor contractions for me felt like intense period pains that lasted for a few seconds to a minute and came and went with no regular frequency (10 minutes between contractions one time, 2 minutes the next, 10 minutes the next, etc. until my water broke).
I had round-the-clock BH contractions for about the entire last 2 months of my pregnancy. These were not particularly comfortable but not painful either -- kind of like consistent muscle tightening and loosening. These lasted longer than the labor contractions.
Best wishes to you!
