DH and I are possibly planning on going there in March and wanted to get some ideas on Costa Rica where ppl have stayed and how pricey is it? Some ppl say it is very expensive others say it is not. TIA

Re: Costa Rica?
I was looking at the Marriotts in Costa Rica and the prices didn't seem too bad. One thing I did hear is that airport transfers cost about $150 each way.

Re: Costa Rica?
I thought Costa Rica was pretty cheap. We stayed at a nice resort with gorgeous hot springs and a great spa for ~$300/night.

Excursions were all around $100 per person. I think you can get cheaper but I wanted to go with a reputable tour company. We went waterfall rappelling and it was a huge adrenalin rush. I cannot say enough good things about this company. We had a blast!

Re: Costa Rica?
I loved, loved, loved Costa Rica and I am not a nature person. It was amazing. We stayed at the Villa Caletas in Jaco. It was pristine and exactly what we wanted. Tabacon is really awesome too if you are going to do the hot springs and volcanoes. If you have any specific questions, feel free to FM.
ETA: In terms of cost, you can make definitely do the trip on a budget. Where we stayed was a bit pricey but it was our HM. My friend just went and did the Riu (she said it was awesome) and it was all inclusive and less expensive. My co-worker did the Paradisus Playa Conchal and loved it. I think she paid under $3000 for her and her SO to go for the week.

Re: Costa Rica?
What gets you in costa rica is the air since two flights are often involved - the first being your commercial flight into the capital and then a local plane to a nearby airstrip. but there is great value for money there. luxury hotels there and in belize will be much cheaper than in other parts of the americas.

Re: Costa Rica?
Dh and I went to Costa Rica last October for our 1 year anniversary. We stayed at the Four Seasons Papagayo. Pricey but definitely worth the money. FM me if you want more info.

Re: Costa Rica?
We loved Costa Rica! We stayed at the Four Seasons (recommend), Punta Islita (don't recommend), The Springs Resort (recommend), and a small inn Los Altos de Eros (TOTALLY RECOMMEND, best choice). We rented a car and did our own driving, we could have done it for cheaper, but even staying at super nice hotels it was less expensive than Europe or the Caribbean. We flew into Liberia and flew out of San Jose.

What was bad about PUnta Islita?? I've read lots of good reviews on tripadvisor about them. We're looking to go to Guanacase this spring-P.I. was one of our choices.
