When did you pacifier wean? Did you go cold turkey?
We're trying to get 20m DS off the pacifier before his little brother is born in 4 months. We failed this week because DS was sick with a stomach bug.
I don't think he can sleep without his binky.
Did you go cold turkey? How long did it take?

Re: When did you pacifier wean? Did you go cold turkey?
we did it around 15 months and did it cold turkey. It was tough. she only used it in bed though. she was ok going to bed at night but naps were really hard for a good week or two (or three) it wasnt that she cried for it so much, she just didnt nap well. I would say if your dd uses all the time, try only giving it to him when he goes to sleep for a while before taking it away totally? good luck !

This is what we were trying to do. Then he was sick this week and would wander around saying, "binky please". We gave in because he was sick.
We are going to try again next week. We thought his stomach bug was gone but then he threw up again this morning. Sigh.

Re: When did you pacifier wean? Did you go cold turkey?
We did cold turkey with both. I thought it would be awful, but it was uneventful.
#1 was at 18 months - I couldn't find one and got him to sleep for his nap without it. When he found one days later - he picked it up, looked at it and just put it down.
#2 was at 16 months - He got impetigo on his chin and we had to keep it dry - so no pacifier allowed.
I really thought it would be murder - they were so dependent on it - but they gave it up quickly.

We've been saying that binkies are for babies for the past month. Sometimes he will say, "binky baby," anything to get his binky.

She's only ever usedit for sleeping in her crib. I plan to transition her to a bed first, then nix the binky

Re: When did you pacifier wean? Did you go cold turkey?
DH took it away when they were 16 months one night when I was at night class.
They cried for 15 minutes and never asked again.
I thought it would be a nightmare, but they weren't as attached as I thought.
