What happened to my baby that never cries??
I am truly at my wits end and dont know what to do or what to make of whats going on with my DS. Ever since his 10 week old shots he has been a different baby. He has a severe milk protein allergy and severe reflux... which is all in check... and NEVER cried. I used to brag how hes gone through so much and never cried. Now hes inconsolable.. I dont know whats going on. First off he was never a great napper. But he would atleast get 4 hours a day in naps. Now he NEVER naps! For the most part my entire morning and early afternoon is dedicated to trying to get him to nap... in his crib, in the swing, in my arms. NOTHING works for more than 20 min. Then I usually have enough and take him to a store... he'll cry in the car till we get there... maybe be calm for an hour yet AWAKE and cry again. If he was happy but never napped I wouldnt be concerned. But by 4pm he is such a cranky mess. He looks utterly exhausted. He actually has circles under his eyes, and is rubbing his head, ears, and eyes constantly. He does sleep at night, but again... since about 10 weeks hes been waking up more. He used to sleep from 8-4 and then 4-8. Now I put him down... earlier than 8 because by 8 he is far too exhausted. He wakes up a half hour later.... twice. Then again at 2ish, then at 6ish, then at 8. He also cries when I try and feed him. I have to rock him while walking to get him to take the bottle. Hes 16lbs 2oz and 12 weeks old. I NEVER had a problem getting him to eat. Again... all of a sudden. Whats going on??? Any advice is truly appreciated. I'm actually scared to take him to holiday parties cause I'm not sure I'll be able to calm him. I love my DS and I hate seeing him like this! I also hate how I am getting NOTHING done!!!

When you say his milk allergy and reflux is in check, what do you mean? To be honest, that's what it sounds like is the problem here. He might be extremely uncomfortable and colic from it.

For the first time he has had no blood in his stool. I have him on Elecare for a month and as of last week he checked out ok. I'm assuming the reflux is in check. He used to have coughing and choking fits and since the Zantac was upped to 3 times a day that has subsided.

I think it can, but I think I remember my ped. saying that colic is unexplained hysterical crying lasting an hour or more for over a month.

I'm not sure...I thought it usually starts going away by 12 weeks.
Babies do change their sleeping habits often, especially around 12 weeks because they have growth spurts. He does seem very over tired. Does the swing soothe him? What about rocking him? Car ride? You may have to try a bunch of different stuff to see what works.

I do think he is overtired. I've been trying to catch it before it starts. But like I said, I have tried everything and cant get him down more than 20 min half hour max. Hes also fist knawing and drooling... does this sound like teething? I also thought maybe a growth spurt.

Have you tried a vacuum? it's the only thing that worked to calm DS. He naps with it on til this day (at 17 months).

It's hard to say re: teething--chewing and drooling are just things babies do, so until you see a tooth or feel it poking through...
