Restaurant.com gift certificates - Yay, or nay?

DS is in a CPSE preschool. For DS's school, I need to get gifts for:
1 Teacher
2 aides
3 therapists
1 bus driver
1 matron

Additionally, for work I need to get for:
4 teacher/team members

It adds up!! I was going to get restaurant.com gift certificates for everyone except the bus driver and matron, who I don't think use the computer much. I'll get gift cards for them for Dunkin Donuts.

Basically, it costs about $5 for a $25 gift certificate. They log in, select the restaurant they want to go to and then they can use the card there. The only thing is they have to check "exclusions" because some restaurants may only accept the gift certificates Monday-Friday, others want a $35 food minimum etc....

What do you think - nice gift, or cheesy?

Honest opinions appreciated

I could go either way on this one. I have use restaurant.com for myself and to buy a specific gift certificate if there is a restaurant that I know someone enjoys & it's a participating restaurant. I *think* it's a good idea but would think many would think it cheesy.

Personally, I wouldn't use it as a gift because there are a lot of stipulations at the restaurants, usually. A minimum amount to order, exclusions, etc. I buy them for myself and use them all the time, I just don't think I'd do it for someone else.

I know how quickly gifts can add up, though, so I understand.

I would give that as an extra gift, but not as the main gift.
