It just hit me- my Dad is cleaning out the house
he keeps emailing me asking me if I want things- or he is going to sell them- of course I have no place to put 15 place settings of Spode China- I wish I did-
the house isn't even sold yet- I understand that he is bored and wants to go back to his new life in Florida- but this all feels so final to me
I don't think I am ever going to be able to drive by that house ever again ( once it's sold)
by June 10th I am going to be the only one of my immediate family who lives in NY- what a difference 2 years makes

take it one step at a time. You have your DH as a great source of support. I know it's difficult, but things will work out for you!

Beth, first , I know how hard it is.
Second, think really carefully about refusing some of the things, even if you have to get a storage space for a little while. I lived out of state when we cleaned out my parents house and if I had to do it again, there are a few things I would have taken and put in storage.
I have driven by my old house once. We know the people who live there, but I don't really have any desire to go in and see what it looks like with other people living there. It would be too weird.

If it was your mom's keep it - you can always give it away later if you don't want it. I think it is hard to make those decisions all at once.
