Towns west of Massapequa
Can anyone please recommend some towns to me that are west of Massapequa? My DH & I have a plan, in 2 years we are moving back to the Island. We live in NJ right now, I am originally from Holbrook and DH is originally from the Medford area. I know Long Island but I'm not 100& familiar with Nassau. We have a young family and we are looking for a nice town to raise a young family in. Any recommendations please? Thanks!

wantagh is fabulous! easily accessible by parkways, excellent schools (though only 1/2 day K at this time), and great shopping/restaurants. you can get to the beach super fast too. tons of families are here too.

agree with these... we are in seaford. i grew up here as well so i knew the area well. just so happened that we purchased our house here too.

I'm in Bellmore, but all the others have mentioned whats west of Massapequa. I also LOVE Rockville Centre, I just couldn't find a house that I loved there.

The South Shore has a bunch of towns all in a row (think Babylon train line). Like people said, going west from Massapequa Park you have in almost a straight line: Seaford, Wantagh, Bellmore, and Merrick. Following the map west, the towns after Merrick start to get a little... dicey... and then they get very good again as you get closer to Queens. Are you only interested in the South Shore? (I was when we were looking - and we looked a lot in those 4 towns and eventually bought a house in one and are very happy - but there are nice towns with good school districts mid-Island and North Shore as well).

In the mid island area, Farmingdale, Plainview, Bethpage, & Levittown & are good middle class family friendly areas. Plainview is a little more expensive than the others & Farmingdale is the furthest east.
I'm not too familiar with further west, but I have heard good things about East Meadow too.

ITA with the PP's, most of the towns on the Babylon line are fantastic. If you go a little further north, North Bellmore/North Merrick, East Meadow, Levittown, and Bethpage are nice as well.
