BTDT - Nursery Furniture Help...
I am so lost!
Last time, I just got a crib.
Now, I have room. I see there are dressers, armoires, hutches, etc.
What do I really NEED, besides a crib and maybe a dresser?
The armoires are cute and look nice, but I can't imagine keeping/using that for a toddler later on.
If you had to do it all over again, knowing what you know now, what would you say?

Re: BTDT - Nursery Furniture Help...
If you have good closet space then I don't think you need an armoire.
For my first son he had a crib, a dresser (that doubled as a changing table) and an armoire. The armoire was wasted. I think I put blankets in there, and some random frames.
When I got pregnant with Tyler we gave him all of Jack's furniture and bought Jack a new crib (he was still in a crib when the baby was born) and a tall dresser with 5 drawers.
The armoire is nice, but unless it is used to hang clothes, I think it just wastes space.

I think the baby furniture we got was a waste. Too small and can't fit that much toddler clothing in it. IMO, I would get just a crib now and wait until they are old enough to get a full sized dresser.

Re: BTDT - Nursery Furniture Help...
We just bought the crib and had an old dresser refinished to match the finish of the dresser. She has a good sized closet so there wasn't any need for anything else other than a bookshelf.
I hated all the kid furniture - everything was small (the darers aren't as deep as adult sized furniture) and poorly constructed - I couldn't see her growing into any of it. The piece we had refinished is solid wood and will be with her for many years.

we bought an armoire for the nursery...fine then, not for his big boy room. We sold it and bought him a dresser.
Id get a good quality dresser that can grow with DC.

Re: BTDT - Nursery Furniture Help...
For Thomas we bought crib that converted to a toddler bed and then a twin bed. A double dresser which we also used a changing table when he was little, a tall, 5 drawer dresser, and a corner bookcase/entertainment unit with two drawers. We keep books on the bottom shelf and his TV on a higher shelf. As cute as the armoires are, I thought the 5 drawer dresser was more functional. He's 3 1/2 now and I've always been very happy with the pieces we chose.
Good luck!

Dresser, crib and we put in a closet system. Plenty of space. She also got a small bookcase as a gift, which is perfect for her books.
