Ireland Trip Review!!

So... we just got back from 6 days in Ireland! Chat Icon We had a GREAT time, so I wanted to write a review!
We book a package for an AWESOME price through Aerlingus vacations. Just go to aerlingus.com, and click on "vacations"- theres lots of packages to pick from.
For the 2 of us, including airfare, 6 nights hotel, and the rental car it was $1600! not bad!
we spent the first day and night in Dublin, then spent 2 nights in Kinsale ( down near Cork), then 2 nights in Limerick, and then headed back to Dublin for one more night before flying home. It was definitely a lot of driving..... but if you don't mind roadtripping, it was a great package.
we were joking with all our friends before we left that with such a cheap price, the hotels were probably all gonna be hostels with a shared bathroom and all that.... BUT, the hotels were some of the nicer ones I've ever stayed in- very clean, spacious, modern....
we got to do all the typical stuff, like kissing the blarney stone LOL, the Guiness factory tour, drove the Ring of Kerry and by the Cliffs of Moher, the Jameson wiskey distillery.... its such a beautiful country, and the people were very welcoming!
just wanted to share in case anybody is looking for a getaway! Chat Icon

have an awesome time!! it wasn't TOO cold... about like it is here, in the 50s. but DEFINITELY pack rain gear... it rained the whole week we were there!! Chat Icon Chat Icon luckily, there was only one day when it was pouring down the whole day---- the rest of the time it was just light rain all day so we could still get out and do stuff. i think they just get a lot of rain there this time of year because all the houses have slate rooves instead of shingles and the sheep were just hanging out in the rain like it was nothing LOL
you'll have a great time no matter what!! what areas are you going to? i can give you some things that we did....

We are going on a tour with CIE. We fly into Shannon, and will be staying in Bunratty, Waterford, Killarney and Dublin. We are flying out of Dublin.

We have our LLBean 3 season waterproof jackets. I hope that will be good enough!! Chat Icon When you were leaving, did you go through customs here in the NY or in Ireland? Did you buy anything when you were there and did you have to declare it?

oh thats great! then i'm sure they have it all planned out so you'll see all the good stuff!! Killarney national park was beautiful, and Dublin was such a great city!
those LL Bean Jackets sound good- i would also buy those little purse-sized umbrellas, too, that you can carry with you every day- just in case. like i said, it wasn't horrible rain and didn't keep us from doing anything at all.... just something to be prepared for Chat Icon
as far as customs... we went through in Ireland and in JFK coming home. It was smooth and easy both times-- just kind of showed our passports and they stamped them for us.
WE didn't buy much in Ireland. Dh bought a Guinness T-shirt and a bottle of Jameson Wiskey, and I bought a silver celtic knot necklace. We wrote it all down on the customs form, but they didn't question it or anything. it was pretty smooth both times.
again, have an awesome time!! FM me if you have any other questions Chat Icon
