Re: Anyone who didn't (or is not) revealing the name to family members until LO arrives?
we're not going to tell until she's born. i don't want to deal w/ people's opinions.
when people ask us, we tell them that we're still working on it. they know who we're naming the baby after, but that's it.

Re: Anyone who didn't (or is not) revealing the name to family members until LO arrives?
We are keeping the name a secret too. I only told one of my cousins the name because she and I are pregnant around the same time and wanted to make sure we both werent loving the same names.
The name I have picked out is not a traditional name so I KNOW I am going to hear it from my family. Anytime I tell someone the name is a secret, I always get, "Well I wont tell anyone!"

Re: Anyone who didn't (or is not) revealing the name to family members until LO arrives?
Many reasons:
1. Supersitious.
2. Didn't want to hear everyone's opinions (I made the mistake of mentioning to my mother what we were thinking about for DS and she said it was a stupid name and to please not name him that because it would remind her too much of my father (they are divorced) ). Well, gee.. thanks mom. We DID name DS that name in the end.
3. NOTHING about either one of my pregnancies were a surprise, and we wanted to keep something to ourselves until the time came.
ETA: We did "sort of" tell my cousin what we wanted to name DD as I wanted to let him know we were naming her english name (first and middle) after his parents.

Re: Anyone who didn't (or is not) revealing the name to family members until LO arrives?
We were team and we didn't share the names we picked out either. We didn't want to hear anyone's opinions and I knew that after the baby was born they'd like the name anyway.
Family was divided on reaction. Some thought it was a good idea and some just really wanted to know. The only people we told before the baby was born was our nurse and the the delivery room staff the day I gave birth.

Didn't do it the first time, not doing it this time. The main reason is I don't need to hear people's comments.

we are not telling anyone anything!!! We are team and we have our names picked and not telling.
I almost told my mom one day, since sheis freaking!!! but then I read her other names we liked and she hated them all and made nasty comments.. so I quckly changed my mind and glad I did!!!
She also has names picked out for us....
I did tell some ladies here in private our names... so if you ever meet my mom.... sssshhhhhh don't tell her!!!

We didn't tell my DD's name before she was born and we won't be telling DS's name before he is born. Bottom line is we don't want to hear anyone's opinions.

Re: Anyone who didn't (or is not) revealing the name to family members until LO arrives?
we want to find out the sex (DH and I) but we plan on keeping that a secret (to everyone else) *if we can* - so if the sex is a secret the name will be a secret as well...our parents/siblings know the names we like though - so they won't be shocked with the name either way b/c we've had name conversations a bunch of times before we were even trying...
i know who is obnoxious in our families and they will most likely have a comment no matter what. but then i'll just have to make fun of their kids names

We refuse to tell anyone the name. Only my sister & cousin know it. I don't want to hear opinions (my mom and mil have plenty of them!). Its been fun hiding the name. Everyone is getting mad at us for doing it HAHA! and they are all trying to guess and noone is even coming close.
I know his name!!!
Well yes.. only my sister & cousin and everyone on this site

Re: Anyone who didn't (or is not) revealing the name to family members until LO arrives?
We knew the sex. We knew the date she was coming (scheduled c/s). We wanted some element of surprise!
And we didn't want the unsolicited opinions or anyone calling her by name when she was in utero.

Re: Anyone who didn't (or is not) revealing the name to family members until LO arrives?
We didn't tell the name.
We were team green and we only had a name picked out and 1) we didn't want to hear comments on it and 2) we wanted to reserve the right to change it if we wanted to.

Re: Anyone who didn't (or is not) revealing the name to family members until LO arrives?
We didn't, and won't this time for 2 reasons:
1. No one is going to tell you "You named him WHAT?" after the baby is born and you say his name is X - They will tell you every opinion in the book when you say "We're GOING TO name him X" We didn't care to hear what anyone and everyong thought of our name choice.
2. They knew the sex, so I felt like SOMETHING should be interesting once he was born. I remember both of my cousin's kids .........it was like "Oh, Sophia was born today" - We knew the name, sex, we were calling her by name for months .......there was NO surprise to anything at all ........
So, we kept it to ourselves, and we didn't call him by his name until he was born

Re: Anyone who didn't (or is not) revealing the name to family members until LO arrives?
In the beginning, when people asked, I told them our list. After hearing the constant negative comments, and once we decided on a name, I STOPPED. We have a girls name picked out, but not a boys, and thats that!!

Re: Anyone who didn't (or is not) revealing the name to family members until LO arrives?
well, me & Dh are down to 2 names. It will definitely be one of these. His & my family know them, but I won't reveal which one for sure until after. Mostly my reason is because I DON'T KNOW. lol. I'm kinda hoping that when I see her I'll know which name is hers.

Re: Anyone who didn't (or is not) revealing the name to family members until LO arrives?
we haven't completely decided on our baby boy's name yet although we are basically down to two names, one being a junior... we aren't revealing the name because 1. people are pressuring us on what we should name our son and 2. we haven't came to a definite decision, we figured we would we see what he looks like first!

Re: Anyone who didn't (or is not) revealing the name to family members until LO arrives?
we did reveal our 's name. there have been many times when i regretted letting people in on our decision.... EVERYONE has an effing comment it's annoying. what's even more annoying is that some people, after their negative comment, will actually start suggesting other names that they think we should use!
i have started to get a little snappy when people question our decision for the name, and most people have stopped now that they see her name in her nursery.
if there are any nice parts about sharing the name you pick, i guess that it is you can get personalized gifts for your shower... i got a beautiful blanket with her name embroidered on it!
but i don't think i will be sharing any names for our next LO until after he/she is born.

Re: Anyone who didn't (or is not) revealing the name to family members until LO arrives?
i didnt tell anyone the names, by way of advice from my sister who had dealt with all of the comments and opinions on her choices fror names. they tried to get it out of my husband and i a few times, but all in all they took it well. and that way if they had a comment about the names, i never heard it

Re: Anyone who didn't (or is not) revealing the name to family members until LO arrives?
We told family our boy name but I wish we didn't. No bad comments, everyone likes the name or pretended they did, but I would have liked to have a surprise since we are finding out the gender and sharing that.
We had discussed possibly keeping the names a secret but when we announced our pregnancy my FSIL immediately started calling dibs on all of her favorite names (they arent married or TTC ) but in that moment I felt like I needed to "claim" our name.
We don't have a girl name yet, so if we have a girl we might keep the name secret.

Re: Anyone who didn't (or is not) revealing the name to family members until LO arrives?
With Trevor it wasn't a secret. With our next baby which we want to start trying for at the end of the summer the names and sex will be a surprise for friends and family. We already know our names and only my sister in law and brother in law know. We think being team green will be sooooooo fun.
