Do you know anything they like? Do they participate in sports or other activities?
My friend's six year old spent 30 minutes telling me about pillow pets. She also likes girly princessy type stuff.
For the older one, maybe an itunes or movie gift card. A necklace or bracelet with a pretty charm?

My 6 year old niece wanted accessories for her American Girl Doll so I bought some things online ( an outfit and glasses) and some american girl crafts at Michaels.

My So has an 11 yr old cousin and for her Birthday this year, we went to Claire's and got her a whole bunch of fun accessories. She is super girly and loves jewelry and nail polish.
As for the six year old, my guess would be that there is some cool doll or toy that she's seen on TV that she wants. I always find kids that age tough because they want specific things. Can you check with her mom or dad?

6 year old- anything Disney Princess. I got my 6 y/o FG Little Mermaid walkie talkies, princess crown/jewelry, and a set of disney princess figurines. She loved them!!
