Re: San Francisco bans the Happy Meal
This issue really burns me!! Measures like this as well as efforts to eliminate salt in restaurants, tax on soda etc. bother me because I feel like they are "band-aids" and do not address the real issure. Instead, the government appears to be doing something when in reality all they are doing is further infantilizing the population by takeing away any choice.
Here is a novel idea - what about if the government ACTUALLY stopped pandering to agricultural and other food lobbies and worked to legistlate to reduce the prices of HEALTHY FOODS.
Instead of constantly elminating the food sources for impoverished people or trying to change these foods provide poor people with healthy food at even more affordable prices than their "junk food" counterparts.

Re: San Francisco bans the Happy Meal
I personally think thats dumb. Its up to the parents to decide what the kids can and can not eat. I ate McDonalds growing up maybe 2 times a year. I earned that toy! LOL. I just think people need to take some self responsibility. Its a choice to eat that crap - no one is forcing it on them.

Re: San Francisco bans the Happy Meal
I don't appreciate people policing what me or my kids eat. This is America. We should be able to eat what we want. I grew up eating cr@p like this- and I still do- and I've never had any health or weight issues. I really don't think it's fair to punish everyone... Kids need to be taught that it's unrealistic to think you will NEVER eat fast food, NEVER eat cake even on a birthday or special occassion, NEVER get soda, even on a holiday. Come on- healthy eating is one thing but you have to live and enjoy yourself here and there too....
