Which 1st Stage Fruit and Veggies to try first?
Hi,
DD is a little over 4 mos old and has been doing great with cereal - gobbles it up so quickly. Ped said I can give her fruits and veggies in the next week or so.
What are the best ones to try first? I've heard some babies just don't take to certain veggies or fruits - spits them right out...what are the most basic ones to try first? Going shopping today and want to pick some up.
TIA!

personally i started with greens and then went to the oranges. some people will do the opposite. i felt id rather give the bland foods first before i give the sweet stuff.

I got the boys the Earth's Best starter packs. Here's a link (scroll down to see the starter packs):
Starter Packs
I gave them carrots 1st. Did that for 3 days then switched to bananas. Then switched to peas after 3 days. Tonight they get apples. I started w/ a veggie 1st because I didn't want them to get used to fruits (that taste good). I started them w/ carrots bc I figure the carrots have to taste better than the peas.
HTH!

I didn't follow any order when I started fruits and veggies. It's an old wives tale that you need to do all veggies first or they will never eat veggies because they will like fruit better. Every 3 days I started a new Stage 1 fruit or veggie in no particular order at all and my DD ate EVERYTHING and loved it.

i started with orange veggies first...carrots, squash, sweet potaotes. DS loved them
then i did green veggies..green beans, peas, ..Did OK with those.
then I did fruits last b/cthey're sweeter..i didnt want him having that first and rejecting veggies. we did apples, banans, pears, and some mixes of berries.

We started with fruits then orange veggies then ggreens and it worked well for us. The first fruit we gave him was apples...it did constipate him though so I would watch out for that.

We did this too.
green beans peas squash sweet potato pears peaches apples banana
At 2 1/2 I am having a REALLY tough time getting DS to eat real veggies so I still give him purees of it and anything green makes him happy!!
And incase anyone else did not say so, the stage 2 jars are same texture, just larger size jar. Since you can refridgerate leftovers in the jar, these were always more economical.
