Talk to me about pigeon-toed-ness and toe walking
Sabrina seems to have tendency to walk on her toes a lot. If I remind her to walk heel-toe, she does, but I am getting tired of reminding her.
Also, sometimes I noticed her walking sort of pigeon-toed.
She walks, run, climbs, plays and her walking style isn't hindering her in that way, but I am wondering how long it might take to outgrow it.
I feel like it is something I just need to remind her about, to correct.
Anyone have any experience?

Re: Talk to me about pigeon-toed-ness and toe walking
My brother walked pigeon toed, my mom just kept reminding him over and over again. He now walks fine.
I think I remember someone putting their kids shoes on the opposite feet to fix it (but this was years ago.) Not sure if it really works.

Re: Talk to me about pigeon-toed-ness and toe walking
My podiatrist told me that it's very common and most kids will outgrow it. He said when I was small it was very over-diagnosed (half my family had braces on their legs to correct it).
My mom sent me to dancing school to fix it and it worked. If it bothers you a lot, you can always try that. Since you always have to have your feet pointed out in ballet, it's almost like physical therapy but fun.

Re: Talk to me about pigeon-toed-ness and toe walking
My DD has inserts for this problem. She was literally tripping over her own feet. Her problems stem more from low muscle tone and poor hip strength though.

Re: Talk to me about pigeon-toed-ness and toe walking
Did you see an orthopaedist yet? I remember you posting about this previously.
She might have tight heel cords which make it impossible for her to continuously walk flat footed. My child received physical therapy to stretch the heel cords, but it didn't help much at all. We have now done casting on both feet to stretch the heel cords which will allow the foot to go completely flat. After a month, we'll see if they are stretched completely, and if so, chances are the toe walking will stop. I would see a specialist. Message me if you want a good one who is very proactive.

Re: Talk to me about pigeon-toed-ness and toe walking
DD#2 is pigeon toed some days worse than others. She doesn't toe walk though. I attributed to the fact that I was when I was little and when I was a baby I had a metal bar that I wore and my mom said it was horrible she had bruises from it. They don't really do much unless it is really bad from what my ped said. For now he told us it is her age and to ignore it. She is only 17 months now though. DD#1 had it for a while but it is pretty much gone. She does toe in a little bit but not really noticeable. I would say if it is really bad or she is constantly tripping from it maybe you could have her looked at my an pediatric ortho.

Re: Talk to me about pigeon-toed-ness and toe walking
My sister would walk on her tip toes. My right foot would point out. Both of us are fine. It went away with age.

Talk to me about pigeon-toed-ness and toe walking
I just found out that this is what my son has..tight heel cords. He is almost one & still not crawling. They are going to splint him. How are your children doing now? We are also going to have an MRI. Did your children have to have this?
