Re: Can anyone tell me anything about Bethpage or Farmingdale?
I grew up and live in North Massapequa and went to Plainedge, so I had friends in Farmingdale and Bethpage and am familiar with the areas.
Farmingdale's SD gets a bad rep sometimes, but from people who have experience with it, I've heard good things. it's more diverse, which i like. I would avoid areas closer to 110...more industrial. I've also heard to avoid areas by the train. I am considering buying there. You can get a good price there, but taxes are high.
bethpage also has a good SD, and is a nice area.
I would live and send my kids to schools in both areas.

Re: Can anyone tell me anything about Bethpage or Farmingdale?
Ive been in Farmingdale for almost a year now. I had my mom do the research on the SD since she was a teach and administrator forever on LI. She said good things about Farmindale schools and I trust her cause she would never let me buy even in a questionable SD.
I am close to 110 and no its not industrial over here. Yes it is if I drive east a bit but I am in the last residential area before 110 and if has such a great neighborhood feel that I never had since I've been living in NY.
Great food and movies close.

Re: Can anyone tell me anything about Bethpage or Farmingdale?
our really good friends just bought in Farmingdale, near the village. They love it & their block is quiet, we visit them about once a week. The kids are too little for school yet so i can't comment on the schools.

Re: Can anyone tell me anything about Bethpage or Farmingdale?
Live in Bethpage. We happen to really like it. Our neighbors are really great, we are close to almost anything we want and the schools are very good.
We never considered it until we realized we needed to expand our horizons geographically. We were looking at the south shore but we kept getting shut out of properties at the time. We bought in 2002.
I would definitely consider buying another home in this area. I feel I get the benefit of the surrounding Plainview area without having to pay the taxes as well.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Re: Can anyone tell me anything about Bethpage or Farmingdale?
I lived in Farmingdale for 5 years and loved the town..I had a co-op so I was right near the village. I was a little sad to leave! I had been given the impression that it was not the best school district. I work in Bethpage and have friends who live there, it is also a great town and I believe the SD is great.
I moved to N Massapequa when we bought our house, we really like the idea of being in the Plainedge SD. Actually parts of Farmindale and Bethpage are also in the Plainedge SD too!

Re: Can anyone tell me anything about Bethpage or Farmingdale?
I live in N. Massapequa on the Farmingdale border, so I'm in the Farmingdale SD. We've been here for a little over 2 years now. Our neighbors have nothing but good things to say about the schools.

You're right by me! I like Farmingdale. It's close to just about everything you could possibly need. I like our neighborhood - friendly neighbors, pretty surroundings, two parks within walking distance, and within walking distance to stores. I don't have kids and my DH went to Half Hollow Hills so I can't comment on the SD, but I have heard it's gotten much better. There was a thread not all that long ago with lots of info on the SD.
