Wait! Just thought of this, have to share.

Have a former co worker who is OCD to the max. We're talking close to Howie Mandel levels...anyhoo I know she's ocd, so I often question her about what she does if..(fill in the blank, any number of situations).

So I asked her once what happens when you have company and they ask to use the bathroom.

She said "Well of course I know ahead of time i'm having a guest. I remove everything personal from the bathroom, including toothbrush, toothpaste, SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER AND SOAP FROM THE SHOWERChat Icon , anything at all that I use just in case they want to use it.
Then, before they go to the bathroom, I ask them "Are you going to do #1 or #2 (I sht you not she literally said this to me, no pun intended). If they say #1 then they go ahead. If they say #2, I ask them to cover the seat or not sit on the seat, and to disinfect the bowl and scrub the bowl after they go. After they leave I have to disinfect the whole bathroom". I said "You don't get many return visitors do you?" She said no, and that's ok with her. I said, "what if they say #1 but really intend #2, OR #2 occurs and they aren't expecting it?" She said I have to disinfect the whole bathroom anyway, but I ask them when they come out what they did.

THIS IS 100% TRUE. l m f a o can you imagine if someone asked you what you were planning in the bathroom???

You think you've got issues?

Re: Spin Off to hand lotion / bath room discussion

My MIL does not have a garbage can in the bathroom, the only garbage in the house is in the kitchen. So when that time of the month has come, you have to march your trash through the kitchen - I hate it!!!

OMG I would hate that...especially having to march into the kitchen with your personal business during that time of the month.

I hate when the people don't have the following it their bathrooms:

- air freshner
- hand towel/paper towels
- extra roll of toilet paper
- garbage can
- soap

Those things just annoy me and I think it's common sense thing to have them in your bathroom...especially a guest bathroom.

I hate when they don't have liquid soap - I know, seems stupid, but I cannot stand how my hands feel after using bar soap.

I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE that too. I have berated my mom for this since I moved out...and in the last month or two, shes graduated to liquid soap world!

Re: Spin Off to hand lotion / bath room discussion

A towel to dry my hands with.
I'd agree with the garbage can too.
One other thing I think it common courtesy to always leave in your bathroom is some sort of air freshner spray. I think if you have a guest and they have to poo, they get uncomfortable sometimes with worrying who is going to walk in next, etc. So it's nice to supply that out in the open.

And to go even further.... I personally make sure there are tampons under the sink; just incase a guest gets an unexpected visit she can find them easily.

If I'm staying over night for whatever reason and I am going to shower there, then I think the proper courtesy should be to supply a towel.

haha... also this reminds me... once I stayed over my cousins house... and she went to her parents house to pick up her OLD pillows with the old asss pillow cases on them from YEARS ago when she lived there and gave them to me to use!! They smelled stale and terrible. It was the most uncomfortable overnight stay EVER!! She barely even gave me a blanket and a sheet to sleep with. Had I known the quality of her offerings, I SO would have brought my own pillow and bedding!!
If I have an overnight guest I supply them with these things and I make sure they are clean!! Chat Icon
PS - It wasn't spur of the moment either, the plan from the beginning was for me to stay overnight.

I 100% agree with this list!

I actually like to put a regular roll of paper towels into the guest bathroom if I'm having more than one person over at the same time so guests have options. I always have a smaller hand towel, and sometimes a large towel as well (I'm talking about my 1/2 bathroom in our home, not the full guest bathroom -- that has several of everything so guests can choose what they want to use).

I have 3 extra rolls of toilet paper in a lined basket on the floor in the bathroom (since there's almost zero storage in there). I'll also swap a nearly-empty roll with a full roll if I know multiple people are coming over before they come.

I recently bought a box of those kleenex "hand towel" pop ups and I really like them, but they're $$$!!! A regular roll of bounty in the bathroom works well, I find, too, and I do notice most guests like to use paper towels instead of the hand towel.

I never thought about having liquid soap instead of a bar in there. I personally like bars, but maybe next time we're having a group, I"ll put liquid in there too since someone mentioned it.

I have lysol in another basket on the floor both so people can sanitize if they want to and use it if they are unhappy with the odor in there.

I also have a nightlight in the bathroom all the time so when people walk in they don't have to worry about closing the door before finding the light switch. I hate when that happens at others' homes!

I think I might be nuts.

When we have guests over I make sure our bathroom is fully stocked.

-clean, empty garbage pail
-lit candle
-regular soap & fancy hand soap
-extra roll of toilet paper
-tissues
-plastic cups
-hand towel

I remove all personal clothing from the bathroom before we have guests over too.

This, exactly.

And if this happens, and they have, say, pajama pants or a robe hanging on the inside of the door...I will use that as a towel.

OH WELL.

Thats funny because I only have a few hand towels so I actually fold up a regular towel and use it for hand wiping. I got the idea from MIL who also does this. I never use it to shower with...

Re: Spin Off to hand lotion / bath room discussion

Anything that I use, I try to put in my guest bathroom as well... extra TP, garbage pail, hand soap of course, a hand towel, lotion, tamps/pads, air freshener, aspirin, etc

What I dont put out is cups for brushing teeth... We dont use them so I never even thought about that

ETA: I also keep a box of tissues in there as well... I think I may be psychotic, but I just like everyone to feel comfy and at home... I actually find it hard to get to sleep/stay sleeping bc Im always worried if a guest is comfy in bed... like hows the temp of the house... are they warm enough/cool enough etc.. Am I complete psycho that I flip around people's TP rolls if they're hung under not over? lol

When I'm having company I actually leave and hand towel and paper towels, just so they have options.

I've never thought to leave a cup for them in the bathroom. And I have garbage cans in every bathroom...so I guess i'm cool there..haha

OMG... I flip them over too!!!! I came from a household where TP was always under and one day I saw the light and started going over... and now i will change everyone elses to over... whats hyserical is that when my parents are over, they will change mine back to under Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
