breastfeeding/pumping question
today i started letting olivia breastfeed from one side the entire time (about a half hour) while i pumped the other side. I actually got a decent amount from the side that I pumped. mY question is: is it ok to do this? does anyone else do this, and notice that they get more when they do it this way?

I did it a lot and I never had an issue! But I did have a nice freezer supply!

My dd prefers to nurse on one side at a time for a long time, rather than switch. It is no problem. They end up getting more of the fatty hind milk this way.

that's what i'm thinking too!!! I was able to go out and get my hair done today, and my husband had 2 bottles to give to her :O)

that was my thought too! Is 30 minutes enough?

I do this (although I usually dont pump while I am feeding him). I just feed DS until he stops. It's usually about 15 minutes give or take. I have tried pumping while feeding him but I find the pump just gets in the way.

when you say to feed him until he stops, do you mean that he just unlatches himself, or falls asleep? my DD is 2 weeks old, and falls asleep alot, so i keep waking her while she feeds. when i was alternating breasts, i would do 10 to 15 minutes on each side, so am i overdoing it by letting her feed for 30 minutes? My boobs are killing me, so maybe that's why?
