Rear facing convertible car seat for a big baby?
I know this has been discussed a million times but the search feature on this site blows.
At almost 5 months my DS has pretty much outgrown the newborn car seat, he is not comfortable. He is off the charts for height and weight and my DH is huge so we anticipate a big guy.
I want my DS to be rear facing as long as possible. In researching convertible car seats I found the Britax Marathon 70, is that the largest one for rear facing (up to 40 lbs)??
Does anyone knows which convertible seat goes to the highest weight rear facing?
TIA
or if someone could bump an old thread or a link??

We have the Safety First True fit that rear faces up to 35 pounds. It is very roomy. It is a wide seat. Some seats are very narrow!

Keep in mind that your child will most likely not be rear facing when they are the max weight. My son is big for his age, and he was 38 pounds at 3 years old. There is no way he could face rear.
My second son just turned a year and I'm going to keep him rear as long as possible.

Thanks, yeah I have thought about this. I would love to keep him rear facing till at least 2 and I am hoping he won't be too big for it to work.

DO not get the Graco Myride 65, it will not fit a sedan, especially not a civic. We got it and we were grateful we had an SUV for it.

Grr, I know!! We are planning on getting an SUV soon but I think my DS is going to outgrow the seat before then. I might have to squeeze it in my Civic until then. I would rather have a really quality seat and be squished for a couple of months than get a smaller seat.
I am gonna go to BBB tomorrow and see if they will let me try them in my car, they have been super helpful in the past so I think they will.
I think I have narrowed it down to the Britax Boulevard 70 CS, hope it fits!

Also, check out www.babycarseats.com
They sell them with 20% off - no tax - and free shipping.
I have the Britax Marathon for my older son, and the Britax Roundabout 55 for my younger son. If you want a seat to last for a long time I would get the Marathon. I love this seat and I don't think you will have an issue with it in a Civic. We had a the Boulevard (or Roundabout - I forget now) in my husbands Civic.

Thanks, good to know.
I have been on Amazon mostly, they have 20-30% off but that website looks really good too. I am gonna check them out tomorrow, then buy online.
Thanks again
