Sayville

house

We might look at this home next weekend. Again, I dont know anything about Suffolk, but have heard good things about Sayville. How is the area where this home is located? What do you think? This will be the first home we look at. We're probably not going to buy until next year, but want to look now to see what is out there. Do you think it's too early too look if we still want to save more for a down payment?

It's not too early! Go see lots of houses now so you get an idea of what neighborhoods you like. Sayville is a cute town with a nice village, lots of places to shop and eat.

I have 2 friends with school-age children who live in Sayville. One has a special-needs child and is having a hard time getting services for him but she loves her town and her neighbors, and one has a girl in 1st grade and loves the school system. All in all, I think it's a great place to start looking.

We're in Sayville and it's a great town - very family oriented with a lot of events like the Christmas parade and tree lighting, the big BBQ competition in the park next weekend, etc. The house you're looking at is really close to the train tracks - they are just on the other side of Easy Street and the whistles blow at the crossing by Greely so they may be pretty loud over there.

There are not many 'bad' areas in Sayville. The house you are indicating is right near an apartment complex and - as mentioned - not too far from the railroad station. Greeley has a little commercial area right up there - auto body shop and Noah Builders. There is also a temple and Creations PreSchool. It's not like an industrial park or anything - but I know some people can be funny about having any kind of businesses that close.

The library backs up to Greeley so it's walking distance. Actually - most things are walking distance if you don't mind a little fresh air. The Farmer's Market runs in the little lot south of the trainstation on Saturdays (May-October). Greeley ends at Main street.. so you can walk to the parades and fairs down there. There are plenty of shops if you want to walk around - a nice little collection of restaurants too. It's a very family oriented town and I think you'd be happy here!

Agree with all of the above, except that you probably won't really hear the trains. I live 2 blocks over and maybe I heard it from time to time when we first moved in, but I don't hear it any more.
The location is great, it's nice to be able to walk everywhere :) As for the "commercial area". It doesn't really effect things, the builders aren't there anymore, there is an auto repair place, but it's not like there is a lot of noise and traffic from it.

good schools, adorable downtown area, lovely community. that spot is a little busier than other more residential areas, but the price is right to get into that area. GL!

My family has lived in Sayville for over 50 years. They love it. Great town and schools. Close to pretty much everything.
