Who's purchased a rug and had the edges bound?
Where did buy it and have it done? And how much did it cost you?
We need a rug for DS' room bc it's above the garage and gets really cold. I don't want wall-to-wall carpeting now so I thought about buying a rug and having the edges bound.
Last time we looked into this at a carpet store it was going to be pricey bc they said you have to buy a whole piece that's 12 (?) feet wide, etc so I'm just wondering what othe people did.

I did it at Carpet Depot recently. It was purchased along with other things but I want to say that broke down to about $500 for a 10x12 shag.

We did this at our old home for the playroom and DD's room - we got pretty good quality carpet - and had it finished- I think both were less than $150 give or take.
Are you looking at new carpet or remnant. You can do MUCH better using a remnant then there is no minimum.
We looked at a few places but got the best deal at G. Fried. They have a HUGE selection of remnants in a huge warehouse type space. They had all types of carpet and colors so you can probably find what you want there. Price around some stores were much cheaper to do it than others were.

I've done it a few times at Montauk Carpet in Farmingdale.
the first was a remnant. I think it was $180 for the remnant and then $1.50 per linear foot to be bound. The carpet was 12x15 and it came to $250 or so for a nice cut and loop design.
Later I bought a prebound 9x13 remnant for about $150. I needed a foot taken off, so I had them cut it off and rebind one side for $20. again - for a nice cut and loop design.
