DD's behavior at daycare....maybe you have a suggestion
DD goes to daycare 3 days a week
She's fine for the most part, but her teachers said she a little trouble with transitions, like when they go out to the playground in the morning, she immediately lays on the ground like she's upset.
And sometimes she plays out there after a little while, but other times they go outside and she immediately plops on the ground, gets a little upset, then kind of stares off into space....THEN will play
Is there something I can do to help transitions? Is it because she goes 3x/week so its not an everyday routine? Maybe she just doesn't like the outdoors as much?
????
ETA: Oh, and sometimes her one teacher calls her princess Lily because she says Lily doesn't like to get dirty....and they were painting one day and Lily touched the brush and paint and pushed it away like it was icky.... P.S. I'm not a fan of her calling her princess Lily

DS has issues with transitions too sometimes - I find that giving him a lot of notice, and repeating myself ad nauseum, helps a lot. I also "talk it up" a lot and make it sound exciting and appealing.
As for the Princess Lily I don't like that at all. My DS has issues with texture sometimes too, has nothing to do with him not wanting to be dirty, he just doesn't like the feel of some things. He won't eat foods with sauce most times unless he can eat them with a fork. Doesn't make him a "prince."

Thanks, maybe I should suggest trying to announce transitioning to hear earlier so she can adjust herself
as for the Princess Lily thing, I think I might say something like, "aww, she's not a princess" or something like that, so maybe she'll get the message that I don't like it (hopefully).

Re: DD's behavior at daycare....maybe you have a suggestion
First, I would tell the teacher to knock of the name calling. It would be one thing if it was said as a compliment in terms of her manners but she's being mean spirited & I wouldn't appreciate it.
As for the transitions, my daughter was the same way in Kindergarten. One thing that helped her was if she was good with transitioning several times, she was able to pick out of the treasure box.
The big thing is the warning beforehand - as in "we're going out on the playground in a few minutes", followed by "one minute until we go".
For outside, I would put it back on the teachers. Are they engaging the kids or is that their downtime when the kids can run around? I think they need to help foster friendships & encourage kids to play together.

Thanks for the advice. It's good to know that my DD isn't the only one that has difficulties with transitions. I will ask them to announce it one more time to her, so it doesn't come as such a surprise. Good point about what they do outside...maybe they need to engage them more. Sometimes I walk out there and the teachers are sitting together talking and the kids are playing, and my DD is sitting on the ground staring into the sky.
Any other suggestions as to how to tell the teacher to not call her "princess lily"....in a NON confrontational way...its the head teacher for her room too
