Sleeping/Laying on your back?
When should you stop sleeping on your back? Also can you lay on the couch on your back with your head a little elevated or should be on your side as well?

Re: Sleeping/Laying on your back?
My OB has only told me not to sleep on my stomach anymore after 20 weeks. I asked him about laying or sleeping on my back and he said it was perfectly fine and that my body would let me know (through causing me pain) if there was anything wrong with it.
Since all doctors give different advice / recommendations, I'd call yours and ask the nurse what the office says about it.

Re: Sleeping/Laying on your back?
At almost 28 weeks I'm still sleeping on my stomach and I always wake up on my back. My dr hasn't said anything to me about how I should or shouldn't sleep so I will continue to sleep on my stomach until it becomes uncomfortable. I think as long as you are still comfy laying on your back you are totally fine and so is your baby.

I also asked my OB, he said it was fine just as long as I'm comfortable. I still wake up every day on my back, the baby is fine and so am I. Just have your head a little more elevated than normal to prevent heartburn, etc.

Re: Sleeping/Laying on your back?
I was never specifically told to stop lying on my back. At one point, it simply became far too uncomfortable for me to do so ( felt like someone was sitting on my chest), so I stopped. I slept on my side with a body pillow from approx. 24 weeks, and it made life much more bearable!
