Bathroom Remodel...WHERE TO START?
Where oh where do I begin with this?
My dh has been working like CRAZY and so I have the job of getting everything together, picking everything out (cabinets, tile, etc., etc.), But I don't know where to start.
We have a contractor who could probably start in a month or so, but before then I have to get everything picked out/ordered.
Any suggestions?
I have been to consumers, and home depot...and nothing caught my eye.
I am guessing I should start with cabinets first?

Have you tried Lowes? There are a bunch of bathroom places on Sunrise in Nassau as well.

I started with tile. And the vanity and went from there...thats probably your best bet.
RAI Tile in Garden City Park has BEAUTIFUL stuff and I bought my pencil moldings and saddles there. But you can also check Nemo Tile for ideas (they're pricey, just a heads up) or Old Country Tile...both of those are in hicksville.
I got my vanity from Fairmont Designs...my fixtures I ordered online.

When its time to do our bathrooms, I will most likely pick out the vanity first and then go from there. Try places like Peter Andrews and Home Goods for vanities as well as the places PP have mentioned.

I knew I wanted dark cabinets so I just searched and searched for decorating ideas online until i found something I liked (as far as wall color/tile ideas)
I found a vanity and stuff at consumers. I picked out a color already and the tiles and floor i am getting from Home Depot

I am in this process right now. I just found tile at Trapani in East Meadow- very nice to work with. I am now trying to find a vanity.

Before deciding on details, go look at showrooms, magazine, etc... for the "style" that your like and color scheme.
Then you can pick tile, faucet finishes, vanity to match the style you like.
Otherwise it's too overwhelming.
Do you want contemporary with vessel sinks, glass tile and dark woods?
Do you want "country" vintage? With white tiles, claw feet tube?
Do you want a spa bathroom with lots of wood like teak and glass doors?
Do you want a beach theme?
KWIM?

This is good advice. The other thing to keep in mind is that much of what you see takes time to deliver. Even many of the items at HD and Lowes that look like they would be in-stock vanities can take 3 - 4 weeks to deliver the size and color you want. I found that any color other than white for bathroom fixtures took about 4 weeks to arrive. Same with bathroom vanities. The tiles were the fastest in most cases so if you want to start soon get your order in for the vanities and fixtures.

LOL that is just it... I like too many styles, but I guess I should try to keep it in the style of the rest of the house (haha which is not really defined) I guess "transitional".
Ooh I would LOVE a spa bathroom.
I kind of have two ideas in my head - either more on the sleek side with cool tones - slate/gray/blue colors,
or more traditional with off whitish cabinets and then warmer colors for tiles, and paint.
Just not sure if I should try to find the cabinets first or tile to inspire me.

I am remodeling my house to more transitional. The beige and the brown. So I went with a bathroom that would match the rest of the house. You can see pics in my album. I went neutral with some "punch" of darker color (vanity wood color and bronze faucet). The rest is very neutral. That way I can always update faucets later, change the vanity color, etc...
