bathing a slippery infant who is pulling to stand

god help me, I'm scared of bath time, all DS wants to do is grab hold of the side of the tub and stand up. He doesn't want to sit, he hates laying there. I try toys, for a while he was pretty happy "playing with himself" he's kind of over it now

Now all he wants to do is pull to stand, and he's not good at it, he's barely good at sitting Chat Icon but lately his obsession is standing and trying to walk.

Anyway, I'm wondering of getting something like this:

any thoughts? advice?

No advice because we are having the same issue with DD. Bathtime has turned into a wrestling match over here. I'm thinking of getting the same thing, curious if anyone on here has ever tried it.

we have that for DD. She enjoys it and doesn't struggle with me too much to get out. The only thing that's hard is washing her hair. She doesn't let me tilt her head back to rinse it lol so that's a BIG problem cause she freaks out

I used an inflatable tub for a while. It was a small investment and it worked well for DD until she became much more steady in the tub.

Is there anything to keep the baby from slipping? Ds is not the steadiest sitter and I feel he will lunge forward and slip head first.

DS freaks out too, but I just say "water! water! water! over your head!" he takes a big breath and I pour it on! Then he acts like he was drowning. I don't know if its a big deal but we do it every night, and I think even though he freaks out he's sort of used to it by now.

We used an inflatable tub also. Ours was in a duck shape and it was better then using the tub. But unfortunately it's just part of the age that you are at. When they are learning to stand and walk bath time can be very nerve wracking. I would say try to make the bath as fast as possible. Before you know it this will pass and bath time will be a lot more fun.

with the inflatable tubs, do you deflate every evening? Or just once? Or just went company is coming over?

Can he stand up on his own? Could you try the shower? Just an idea...mine doesn't stand yet, thank goodness, but he is a maniac nonetheless!! Chat Icon

he's 6m and he thinks he can Chat Icon He actually pushes me aside when I stand him up, as if he doesn't need me to hold him.

he's really unsteady, he's even unsteady sitting

Tonight wasn't too horrible, he ended up "playing with himself" and while it used to freak me out before, I'm quite happy when he does it now Chat Icon

Can you bath him in the sink? DD is tiny so I bathed her in the sink till she was like 18 months. I had better control of her than in the tub.

i got an idea once froma magazine and its been working with DD. I taught her to howl like a wolf and when she would look up to howl i would dump the water. It was fun for her.

Take a bath with him...

Thats what I Do... I take it with Carlie all the time... B/c if I am outside of the tub all she wants to do is climb out... So I just get in with her!

Its more fun anyway... lol

Ds gets a bath in the kitchen sink everynight! Easier to handle him this way
