We just booked Disney and....

I'm honestly not that excited. I wanted to go to Beaches Turks & Caicos and DH wanted to go to Disney. We always go where I want to go, so I gave in and let him choose this time.

Can you help me get excited about it? Chat Icon We are going in May 2011.

Re: We just booked Disney and....

We were there this past May for DD#1's 1st birthday. We were there May 15th-24. We had a BLAST and the girls absolutely loved it. Honestly the best part of the trip was watching the girls light up, sing and dance on the various rides and when they saw certain characters.

DD#1 loved dressing as cinderella in the parks. There were so many little girls all decked out. They loved doing the princess storybook dinner in EPCOT.

We planned down time everyday at the hotel for naps (although DD#2 napped a lot in the stroller) and swim time.

I understand why you would be disappointed in not going to the islands - but you can have a great trip if you plan it right.

Where are you staying? Do you need any help planning?

I'm happy to share what worked for us and what didn't.

DH and I went in August (no kids). I wanted to go to the DR but DH didn't want to spend any $$ so we used the DVC timeshare.

I had the BEST time!!! Every day we had a new adventure.

The best thing about Disney (in my opinion) is that it can be anything you want it to be. I wanted a nice, romantic vacation and I had a nice, romantic vacation.

I love disney!! You will probably have a blast, but i can sympathize. DH and i are talking about one more vacation before trying for a little one. although i love disney, we have been there before and i'd rather do a relaxing vacation that i wouldn't necessarily bring my kids to. DH agrees, but a friend of ours is really trying to talk us into disney next spring with him and his family. i'm not 100% opposed because disney is A LOT of fun, but i know what you mean!!

Thanks Christine. I know we'll have a great time, I'm just not that excited about it yet!

We are going Mid May and staying at The Grand Floridian. I feel that the Disney website isn't that user friendly, so if you have any tips on booking character meals and any other advice, it would be awesome and I would really appreciate it!

Elizabeth really only knows Mickey & crew at this point, so I'm going to start introducing her to the princesses! She'll be 3.5 and Alexandra will be 1 year.

Thanks!

I've been to Beaches turks & caicos, Disney is the better choice, trust me! Beaches was fun too and a bit more relaxing but you'll have so much more fun with your girls in Disney. I'll be there with my girls end of next month so I'll report back to you on the musts and must nots Chat Icon

Re: We just booked Disney and....

We went when DD was a little over 2 and had a great time!!

She wore her Cinderella dress one day in the parks and it was the cutest thing ever. Everywhere you look there are little girls dressed as princesses.

I'm so jealous, we can't wait to take both girls.

I will try to get an FM to you tomorrow - and send you some pictures and some recommendations - they will LOVE it at that age - and I think when it gets closer you will enjoy it too. It can totally be overwhelming - I was the 1st 2 trips - this is the 4th one I have brought DH on and the planning with the girls made it harder - but I will walk you thru it all. We stayed at the poly and the GF is a perfect choice!!! You will have to try either breakfast with Mary Poppins and friends or Dinner with Cinderella, the prince, stepmother and stepsisters at 1900 park fare at your hotel.

Re: We just booked Disney and....

We stayed at the Polynesian and I did feel like I was on vacation in the Carribeans.

I wanted to go to the DR and we book Disney. So same story as yours. In the end, I just wanted great weather and the pool. And I got it in Disney. While at the resort, it was like I was no longer in Disney.

You will enjoy it. Just give you some time for the pool and relaxing.

The Grand Floridian also has a spa. Go get a massage, etc... I know they have coupons out there for the spa.
