Alaska...
Has anyone gone and stayed at a lodge.I am not looking for a cruise. Looking for recommendations where we can fish, and still have some night life that wont break the bank.

DH and I did a road trip in Alaska about a month ago. We didn't go fishing, but I remember reading that there is good fishing on the Kenai Peninsula (near the towns of Seward and Homer). Seward is a great little town right on the water, but not much in the way of nightlife. Actually I'm not sure you'll find much nightlife anywhere except maybe Anchorage.
One place I would definitely recommend is Denali national park. It's so beautiful that I don't think anyone who visits Alaska should miss is.
As I'm sure you know things are very expensive up there so we saved money by camping. Renting an RV is also a great option, as are bed and breakfasts.

I went there about 5 yrs ago and it's amazing. It's a MUST SEE when visiting.

We went on a cruise BUT also stayed at a lodge in Denali. There was no nightlife.
We also stayed in Anchorage pre-cruise and things were definitely open later.

Amazing pictures! Looks like you had a great trip. Did you take the bus tour through Denlai? I did it with my daughter in 2005 and it was pretty awesome!
How long did you go for?
What was your itinerary?

We actually camped out at Wonder Lake in Denali, so we took the bus out there and stayed 2 nights.
We went for 2 weeks. We started in Anchorage, went to Seward, took the ferry from Whittier to Valdez, went to Kennecott/McCarthy (took a bush plane there), and then Denali via/Wasilla and Palmer.
Not sure why that album's not working, maybe it was a temporary FB error?

Thanks. I will look into these. I wasnt meaning a nightlife like bars and partying. Something that had a nice town.
