Re: starting to feel guilty that my baby is measuring big

ugh ok, this rampage is courtesy of my hormones:

doctors fu**iing piisssss me off with this crap!! "you're baby is too big, your baby is too small, fluid levels blah blah blah!" shut the frig up!!! they made me crazy the last 2 weeks with all of this junk and BS!!! who gives a crap! HALF THE TIME THEY'RE WRONG WITH THE WEIGHT!!! everyone I talk to who was told that their baby was going to be "x" was actuallly "y"!!!!!!!!!!!! ***?????? so, you know what I say? f-them! is your baby growing? is he/she thriving, and kicking? and is your BP good, and your healthy? and if all of the answers are yes, then that's ALL THAT MATTERS!!!! so, don't let them get you down. i know it's their job, and they are being careful, but for gods sake, they can just put the fear of god into you for no good reason!
Ok., RANT over :O) wow i need to have this baby! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Girl, you're fine! you're a fantastic mom to be now, and you will be just as awesome when the little munchkin is born! just smile, and enjoy the ride! xoxo

Oh please don't worry about this at all!!!

I'm now a BTDT - 2 babies and the small one was 8lbs at birth and he came 10 days early! My DD was 4 days early and was over 9lbs. I have big children. Period. Yes, I ate what I wanted to eat but SO WHAT?? My kids are healthy and so am I. I did not have GD either time - passed the one hour (even after having a red velvet cupcake the day before!)

My baby is measuring big already as well. I don't blame myself...I just have big babies. My son was a week early and was about 9lbs...Chat Icon

And i only gained 18 pounds my first pregnancy...only 4 pounds to date at 21 weeks this pregnancy...

and my little man was a great eater and was told by the Ped in the hospital that he would be sleeping thorugh the night within a month...and he was!!!

My DS was 9-12 and DD was 9-13 and both were very healthy babies and I never even had GD with either pregnancy ...I am a whopping

Some people just have large babies and there is nothing wrong with that

Agreed! My DS was 9.14. He is a great eater, sleeper, happy healthy kid who walked at 10 months, started talking at 17 month etc.
Dont worry yourself!!!

My family makes big babies its just the way it is!
My SIL's first was 9.13oz. when she was preggo with #2 she gained 16lbs!!! (and she was thin to begin with) her DS was over 9lbs and 2 weeks early!
Child #3 also over 9lbs!

Dont feel like you did anything wrong~! Your baby is fine! And you are doing a great job helping DC grow!

all of my SIL's children were 9+ pound babies!! i never even thought that the big baby size could come from DH's side of the family too... but maybe him and his brothers all have super sperm lol

Re: starting to feel guilty that my baby is measuring big

first off I truly don't believe it is something you did. Genetics can also effect the babies size too if you or your DH were big it can cause you LO to be big also.
DH and I were both over 9lbs at birth so I knew from day 1 I was having a big baby at 31 weeks DS was 5lbs even at birth he was 9lbs 4 oz.
A friend of mine is very tiny her DH on the other hand is over 6 foot and 300lbs plus but neither was big at birth. Both of her DS were huge.

Re: starting to feel guilty that my baby is measuring big

I don't think you can control this at all! my SIL knows a girl who gained like 50 and had a VERY tiny baby....it's not your fault.

Re: starting to feel guilty that my baby is measuring big

dont feel bad, some babies are just bigger then others. and some women just tend to have big babies, one of my friends had two babies, and both came out over 10lbs. its out of your control.

STOP right now. Please don't blame yourself. This is not your fault at all. I agree with the other girls. It's genetics. Don't be so hard on yourself. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: starting to feel guilty that my baby is measuring big

This is crazy you aren't causing your baby to be big. Take it from me, I was told my DD was going to be big. They day before she was born they told me she was over 8lbs and I was only 38 weeks, guess what she was only 7lbs at birth so I wouldn't even trust what the sonos say. There is no reason to get stressed over this. As long as you and the baby are healthy that is all that matte3rs.

Re: starting to feel guilty that my baby is measuring big

Do not worry about what you did. All you did was give a great home to a beautiful baby!

I also was measuring big with DS, with a lot of amniotic fluid. Although i passed the GD test, I was sent again because they didn't believe it. I then failed the next one, passed the 3 hour and was sent for GD test EVERY WEEK after that. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon But I passed the rest of them! Chat Icon

I gave birth a few weeks early to a healthy 11 lb 8oz baby boy. Doctors had no reason for the giant baby. We just make them big in my family. Chat Icon

I really don't think you need to feel guilty. My mom gained 50 pounds with me, and I came out at 6lbs 4 1/2 oz. I think your baby is growing the way s/he is supposed to!

Re: starting to feel guilty that my baby is measuring big

I'm BTDT. Please don't blame yourself - my SIL was told my nephew was going to be HUGE, so they induced her early, she had a c-section since it failed, and my nephew was barely 7 lbs. I'm all of 5'1", had serious food aversions, lived on cheeseburgers and milkshakes since everything else made me Chat Icon, managed by some miracle of god to only gain 17 lbs (I normally gain weight every time I so much as look at a cupcake), and my DD was born at 8 lbs 10 oz and has only gotten bigger! She started out in the 70s, but is now consistently in the 90th percentiles for height, weight, and head circumference, and is very advanced developmentally for her age as well. She also STTN early on. There's absolutely nothing wrong with bigger babies so don't beat yourself up about this since so much of this is out of your control. I did not have GD either - it's just how she developed.Chat Icon

Do not stress or let the Drs. freak you out! I didn't gain a lot of weight with my pregnancies (21 pounds with the first, 15 with the second) and my kids were 9 7 and 9 1. You aren't doing anything wrong. There's nothing wrong with big babies! Chat Icon
