can you burp a sleeping baby?
for the last feed and in the middle of the night, my DD is knocked out cold after feeding. I try to burp but shes all bobble headed and is not waking up. I can never get a burp out of her. But then an hour later or all through the night, she wakes up crying and we have to pick her up to burp her. Can a sleeping baby be burped?

You can try to burp her. DS always fell asleep as a newborn before he burped. If they fall asleep while still eating, they're not sucking as much air in where they need to burp as much as when they're awake.

Re: can you burp a sleeping baby?
my dd is 5 months old and there have been times where she has burped in her sleep.
usually happens if she has eaten in her car seat when we are out and she falls asleep on the car ride home.
we pick her up and transfer her to her crib, and she usually burps then. and it doesn't wake her up.

What I do usually is just hold him so his head rests on my shoulder and I try to burp him that way. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Re: can you burp a sleeping baby?
It can definitely be done. DS was asleep for nearly every feeding/burping in the first 2 weeks. While supporting his head I would slowly lower him back, forward and side to side from a sitting position on my lap. I usually helped getting any air bubbles to the surface and then he was easy to burp. Once I started feeding DS in a more upright position burping was MUCH easier!
