40th Birthday Gift
We have a 40th birthday to go to next weekend. We wouldn't normally get this person a gift, but I think we should since we're going to the party. Is cash acceptable? Does it have to be an actual gift?

Re: 40th Birthday Gift
A gift card is more acceptable than cash. Get something to a restaurant or common store like Macy's.
The Visa or AX gift cards have a $5 fee when you buy them, so I avoid those.

I have given GC to Massage Envy recently for 40th gifts & they have been a big hit.

Re: 40th Birthday Gift
I think cash or check is fine - I received both as gifts for my 30th birthday. For girls, if they wear costume jewelry, I will get them a pretty piece. For guys, I get something sports oriented if they have a favorite team.
