AGAIN because I am too lazy...Monitors for two rooms/two kids...

Just in time for Zippy's arrival, the monitor we had for Abby crapped out. I still want a monitor for her room but obviously I want one for Zippy too. I am trying to avoid having multiple monitors. Are there any decent monitors for two different rooms that will not have my new home looking like Radio Shack? TIA

You could get the summer infant hand held monitor and buy the 2nd camera. Have their rooms set for A and B, and you can just switch back and forth on the video monitor when you want to see them.

If I can remember correctly, it was around $120...and I think I used a 20% coupon on it. It's just the first thing that came to mind when you said you wanted it for both rooms.

The hand held alone is $199, the second camera is $119.

I just saw in the BBB ad that Summer Infant makes a multiview monitor set. It's on the expensive side it's 269.99 and then another 79.99 for the extra camera but you don't have to switch back and forth its on the same screen. It's called Sleek & Secure Multiview handheld color view monitor. Im pretty sure you can use the 20% off coupon.

With all of the money we have spent in the past 4-5 months, I am tempted to let the kids fend for themselves. Who says they need to be watched anyway?Chat Icon

Abby is already a better parent than I am. I had a melt-down the other day - hormone induced. She came up to me and gave me a hug and said "You OK Mommy!" as opposed to me, the hard azz who would say "Suck it up and deal!"

You don't HAVE to get the handheld. Summer makes the video monitor with the little television. We got the cheapest model- the black and white, for 139.00 with a 20% off coupon, and an extra camera with another 20% off coupon.

You have to know how much I really don't need video but this may be my only option. Eh my house ain't all that big. I can just have DH turn the volume off during the football games and listen REAL close.

This means I am going to have to drag DH out to another store in all of my misery. I may just show him the pictures and prices.

Be very wary when ordering the extra camera as they are not all compatible even though they LOOK exactly the same.

Learned this the hard way. Chat Icon

I would get video for DD and just an audio for DS.

With DD (3) I want to watch her. She can open her door, she can undo the lock and the dead bolt on the front door. We installed an alarm on the house in part because I want to be alerted if she decides to go for an evening stroll. With the video monitor, I can hear and see if she gets out of bed to leave her room, play, whatever.

With DS (9 months), if they make a noise-especially in the beginning-you pretty much have to go in to assess the situation, feed them, put a paci in, change a diaper. So, for me audio would be enough since 9/10 times, you are going in anyway-just seeing the camera isn't going to cut it. Plus, he isn't going anywhere, so I know he is in his crib-I don't need the video to show me that.

1 camera, 2 monitors doesn't really cut it for us since I want to have some surveillance on both kids at all times.

That's my 2 cents!

Also, fyi- my BRU stopped carrying extra cameras for the video monitor and told me they are online only.

If you're getting the Summer Day/Night Handheld, like Janine posted, don't buy the extra camera! We have one, the antenna is slightly damaged but despite that it works great. We are only getting rid of it because we got a brand new monitor set for DD Chat Icon because I wanted two monitors.

If you want it, it's yours!

SCORE! Hold it for me until I ask DH what he thinks we should do. G-d forbid a monitor interferes with the gaming system set up. Let me know what you want for it.

We got 2 sets of the FP Lights & Sounds monitor. I know it's not ideally what you want, but it was a lot cheaper, and we didn't want video.

I looked on BRU, I guess they dont' make them anymore, but I'd get something like the Safety first set, $25 per set.
